The company says it has been in business 32 years and lists a service area that includes Bridgewater, Danbury, Litchfield and Middlebury. It holds 3.9 stars from 21 Google ratings and an A+ grade from the BBB. A 2026 reviewer called him unprofessional and aggressive. On r/Danbury, a recent commenter said their fence had been installed for 4 years and works great, and that other than being a loud talker, they didn’t have a problem with him. A 2026 customer said the company was quick to answer and come out with any issue at their home. A 2024 customer said Mike installed a fence about a year earlier for over $1,000 after asking the customer to clear the yard first. When that customer's transmitter stopped working and they called to ask for the original invoice, the 2024 review says Mike was hostile, said he offers a lifetime warranty with a $165+ service charge, and hung up; Pet Safe then replaced the equipment. A 2025 reviewer trying to book an appointment said Mike talked over them on the phone and called them a “miss know it all” after they mentioned the website form gave no confirmation. A 2022 customer praised the installation, training and follow-up service from Mike. A 2021 customer with three dogs said Mike made himself available throughout the additional training to answer questions.
“We used The Dog Guy. Other than being a loud talker, we didn’t have a problem with him. The fence has been installed for 4 years and works great.”
Owner was rude, unprofessional and untrustworthy. I wasted over 6k for a fence that doesn't work and received no support from the owner. The owner is unresponsive to phone calls and emails. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. There are far better companies that sell and install these fences.
Never go to this man for any work. He is so unprofessional and aggressive, could go into detail but just look at the other reviews, they sum it up.
always great expericne, quick to answer and come out with any issuse we have had at our home. thank you!
I had a negative experience trying to set up an appointment with this business. When I spoke with Mike on the phone, I immediately felt that our communication styles didn’t align—he frequently talked over me, making it difficult to have a productive conversation. During our call, I mentioned that when I tried to submit the form on his website, there was no confirmation message or email, making it seem like the form didn’t go through. As someone with experience in digital design, I thought this was helpful feedback. However, he dismissed my input and sarcastically referred to me as a “miss know it all.” After the call, I realized this wasn’t the right fit for me or my dog, so I left a voicemail to politely cancel the appointment. Shortly after, I received two phone calls and a text from a different number (not his business number). The messages made it clear he was upset about my feedback on his website. He also claimed he had no plans to attend the appointment anyway—but he never communicated that to me. Overall, my experience left me feeling uncomfortable, and I’m glad I trusted my instincts. If clear communication and professionalism are important to you, I’d recommend considering these factors before booking.
This would have originally been a good review but after my conversation today with this man, I could never recommend him. I had Mike come out and install a fence about a year ago. My first inkling of "I'm not sure about this guy" was that he was charging in excess of $1,000 and then proceeded to ask me to clear all of the yard myself before he even came and then still charged me over $1,000. Oh well, I did it. Fast forward to today. My transmitter stopped working. I did what I think many normal people would do and troubleshot it myself, testing the power connections, the wire, etc. I contacted the manufacturer, a not so out of the norm thing to do, and they said they would cover a full replacement but I needed to send proof of purchase or installation. This is where it gets spicy. I called Mike and left a message simply asking to have him email the original invoice to me. I'm not sure how or why but I had lost my copy, whoops. He called me back and right out of the gate was hostile and disrespectful. "Why are you calling anyone else? You call me." The only informative thing he said was apparently he offers a lifetime warranty which comes at a cost of a $165+ service charge. I told him I had already done all of the testing and troubleshooting and I just needed an invoice. He replied "I don't know why you even called me. Who are "they"? I don't even know who "they" are. I cover it all. I come out and you pay for my time and work and I replace everything". I replied that I wasn't going to pay for anything as I had already figured out what I needed to do and his reply was simply "I have another call, I have to go" and HE HUNG UP ON ME. I've had more pleasant interactions with corporate retail chains. This guy might as well have been calling me names and swearing at me. I don't care if my new transmitter blows up the day after I get it, I'll never call this clown again. Pet Safe replaced my equipment no questions asked and laughed at this idiots behavior. Please just go to the manufacturer. This greedy idiot just wanted to charge me money. He doesn't give a bird about customer service and satisfaction. Don't use him. Find someone else.
