The Septic Inspector describes itself on its website as a provider of septic inspections and septic services throughout Maine and New Hampshire. For one recent Google customer, the inspector explained the system, walked them through everything they needed to know and patiently answered every question. After a recent inspection, a customer said the inspector explained what was needed to find information missing on their septic design, had documentation readily available once the inspection was done, and gave recommendations on what to do to avoid future issues. A Realtor who serves clients in Southern Maine and the New Hampshire Seacoast named Mark O'Neil and said he takes the time to explain how everything works, and praised his willingness to travel. A 2025 customer who hired the company for a septic inspection on a residential house said it found no serious issues, and that after hiring a second company they found the system to be at the end of its life. That 2025 customer said the company refused a full refund and offered to return half the cost.

From the moment the inspector arrived, he was friendly, personable, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. He brought a big smile, good-hearted humor, and an impressive depth of knowledge about his trade. He took the time to thoroughly explain the system, walked me through everything I needed to know, and patiently answered every question I had. I never felt rushed or like I was asking too many questions. His professionalism, expertise, and willingness to educate made the entire inspection process feel comfortable and reassuring. It’s clear that he takes great pride in his work and truly cares about providing his customers with a thorough and honest inspection. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely great tradesman. He absolutely deserves recognition for the exceptional service he provides!
The gentleman was informative about the process and things they look for. Explained what needed to be done to find the information that was missing on our septic design/system to verify it was correct. Documentation was readily available after inspection was done. Gave recommendations on what should be done in future to avoid issues.
As a REALTOR®, I rely heavily on trusted industry partners, and The Septic Inspector has become one of my go-to recommendations for clients. A special shoutout to Mark O'Neil, who consistently does an outstanding job. He is professional, punctual, thorough, and incredibly knowledgeable. More importantly, he has a fantastic way of communicating with clients. Septic systems can be intimidating for many homeowners and buyers, but Mark takes the time to explain how everything works, answer questions, and share his expertise in a way that is easy to understand. As someone who serves clients throughout Southern Maine and the New Hampshire Seacoast, I especially appreciate Mark's reliability and willingness to travel wherever I need him. That's a large service area, and dependable industry partners who consistently show up, communicate well, and take great care of clients are hard to find these days. The entire team is responsive and great to work with, but Mark's bedside manner and ability to put people at ease truly stand out. Somehow, he's even figured out how to make a septic inspection engaging and educational—which is no small feat when your subject matter literally stinks. I highly recommend The Septic Inspector to anyone needing a septic inspection and look forward to working with them for many years to come.
Hired this company to perform a septic inspection on a residential house. Once the inspection was completed they found no serious issues, however I felt their process was not thorough. After hiring a second company we found the system to be at the end of its life! Upon asking for money back they refused a full refund (offered to return half the cost). I implore you, if you see this, do not hire this company. They will perform an inadequate service and take your money with no remorse. If I had not questioned their performance I could have lost tens of $1000s in septic replacement.
