Thompson Flooring

"I have been working with Mr. Thompson for almost 20 years," a Google reviewer wrote in December 2023. Thompson Flooring is a New Haven hardwood floor outfit, and a July 2023 reviewer described it as Jim, the owner, working with his son James; a 2019 review calls it a family business. A November 2021 review makes a point of Mr. Thompson working on the job with his crew rather than managing from afar. Refinishing is the work reviewers describe in the most detail. In a November 2024 review, a customer said James and his team brought a 35-year-old parquet floor that was in rough shape back to looking new at a reasonable price. A November 2023 reviewer had floors more than 100 years old repaired and refinished, and a July 2025 customer said their living room floor was finished ahead of time. The jobs go beyond sanding, too: in November 2021 the crew pulled the carpet off a staircase, fixed a stair, sanded and coated the stairs and installed hardwood through an upstairs hallway; in April 2021 they put down a subfloor and hardwood with three coats of urethane in a new-construction house. A December 2020 customer who expected a simple refinish learned the previous sanding had left little to work with, and the crew replaced the floor instead. The written reviews run from 2019 to 2025 and that carry a star rating give four to five stars, with fair pricing and on-time work named in several of them. HomeAdvisor and Angi each show 4.7 stars from 98 ratings; Google is lower at 3.8 from 14 ratings. Thompson Flooring holds an active Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0558783.
