Top of the Barn are fantastic with remodels and other building projects. We have a 200 plus year old farmhouse so you can’t just nail things up. Projects have to be planned and done with care to fit the aesthetics of the house. These guys understand buildings and do projects right, plus they clean up their messes and communicate well. They remodeled our kitchen, replaced a few floors, paneled a ceiling, and have fixed a few leaks. Call them for your next remodel!
Hard to know where to start with all the great things to be said about Top of the Barn Woodworking: I cannot recommend them more highly. Their first project for us involved a historic 1814 Quaker Meeting House, where they carefully replaced clapboard, roofline wood, and the front threshold, helping to preserve a sacred space of Maine's history. (After replacing the original threshold due to partial water damage, Shawn thoughtfully kept it for us in case we wanted to transform the wood into something new—this is the kind of attention to detail he and the team have for their work and clients.) They also worked on an interior job in our 1820s farmhouse, installing drywall in two compromised ceilings. In both cases, they were transparent on costs, fair, conscientious, and timely on the work. Their craftsmanship is excellent and they take pride in the best materials and breathing new life into well-loved spaces.
We have had the pleasure of working with Top of the Barn Woodworking for several projects. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail have been exceptional throughout each phase of our renovations. First, they refinished our hardwood floor, transforming it from worn and tired to gleaming and new. It gets pretty beaten up from Tap dancing, so it's not an easy job! The precision and care they took with every step was evident in the stunning final result. Next, they built a sprung floor for our third dance room. It was definitely a tricky job, but they handled it effortlessly and the outcome was even better than I could have hoped for! We have dancers of all ages, so having a safe, well-built floor for them to dance on is so important. I wouldn't have trusted anyone else with this project. Currently, they are redoing our lobby floors with click lock vinyl. Even though the project is still in progress, I am already impressed with their efficiency and the meticulous approach they have taken to ensure everything is perfect. I highly recommend Top of the Barn Woodworking for any of your renovation projects. Their professionalism, skill, and dedication to their craft are unmatched, and I am grateful for the beautiful work they have done for our studio.
