Tree Specialists

Tree Specialists is a tree care business in Holliston. Its website says it has been in business 45 years and lists tree pruning, root zone remediation, tree bracing, plant health care and tick management among its services. In its own Better Business Bureau description, the business says it was established in Massachusetts in 1981 and names Rolf Briggs as its consulting arborist. The Better Business Bureau grades it A+. A recent review says they removed a very large tree that was threatening the house when the ground was saturated from several days of strong rainfall, and cut it down and hoisted it very high so the lawn and other trees were not affected. A recent customer had two sugar maples pruned and cabled and a pin oak and fir tree pruned, and wrote that Tom, Cole and Tyler left the yard spotless. A recent review says they did a good and thorough job of feeding four oak trees. A recent review says Steve M, an arborist, visited several times to provide expertise and options. In a 2026 news article, Rolf Briggs, owner of Holliston-based Tree Specialists Inc., said he had been getting two to three calls a week from homeowners about lanternfly outbreaks. In a 2025 review, a customer wrote that they had engaged Tree Specialists for trimming, pruning, cabling and installing lightning protection on their largest tree, and that the pricing was competitive. A separate 2025 review said Rolf walked around recommending work for the trees, and that trees were pruned and one tree required cabling and bracing. In another 2025 review, a customer wrote that they had them prune, cable and thin sugar maples more than 100 years old every so often. In a 2025 review, a customer wrote that Tree Specialists had pruned all of their trees and treated several trees for bugs and fungus. In 2009, Tree Specialists manned the decompaction station at an MAA workshop, where Rolf Briggs used a compaction meter to show how compacted the soil around two mature sugar maple trees was. A 2024 review said Rolff seemed very knowledgeable but that the prices were at least double everyone else's and that they were trying to upsell everything. A 2025 one-star review read: "Unsafe & dangerous vehicle operators."
