Ultra Safe Pest Management has been handling ants, rodents, termites, and wildlife problems around Greater Boston since 2000, the kind of outfit people call for anything from a mouse in the walls to a bat in the attic. The company describes itself as locally owned and operated, with the owners still hands-on day to day, and its technicians carry a real stack of credentials: ESA-certified entomologists, NPMA QualityPro standing, NEPMA wood-destroying-insect inspector certification, and Massachusetts MDAR license categories covering structural pests, termites, vertebrate pests, and mosquitoes. For most of its history that reputation held up. Google shows 4.5 stars across 152 ratings, and Angi rates it 4.8 from 53 reviews, with people repeatedly citing promptness and technicians who explain the work before doing it. But the last six months read differently. Of six Google reviews posted since January, five are negative, and they cluster around the same complaint: unresponsive billing and customer service, which several reviewers tie to a recent acquisition by "Ned's." One customer says they called repeatedly to cancel and kept getting billed anyway with no callback. Another reports a technician never showed for a scheduled termite inspection, with no call either way. A third paid close to $3,000 for a rat-exclusion job, had something chew back through a sealed entry point within a year, and says the company pointed to an expired three-month warranty and offered a paid re-inspection instead of standing behind the original work. One June reviewer still praised a technician, Gilmer, by name for careful, kid- and pet-safe treatment, so the field work itself isn't uniformly the issue. There's a real discrepancy worth knowing before you call: the company's own site advertises "BBB A+ Accredited Business since 2004," but the live BBB profile currently shows it as NOT accredited and carries an alert reading "Out-of-Business known or suspected." This reads like a long-running, well-certified pest and wildlife company mid-transition, with recent friction around billing and follow-through that its older star ratings don't yet reflect. If you're weighing them, ask directly about the ownership change, get any cancellation confirmed in writing, and nail down exactly what's covered under warranty and for how long before paying for exclusion or treatment work.

We love our technician Gilmer-- expert, thorough and always very mindful that we have children and pets so prioritize safe, effective treatments.

Scheduled an inspection because I saw a termite swarm in my bathroom. They were supposed to come out between 9 AM and 12 PM. Never got a phone call that they were coming or running late. By 12 PM, I still hadn't heard from them, so I cancelled. I don't give my business to companies that are disrespectful of my time. They didn't seem to care.

I have had a very frustrating experience with Ultra Safe Pest Control. I have repeatedly called to cancel my pest control service, but despite my requests, they continue to show up and bill me. What’s even more disappointing is the lack of communication—no one ever calls me back to address the issue. It feels like my concerns are being completely ignored, and it’s unacceptable to continue servicing and charging a customer after multiple cancellation attempts. I would not recommend this company if you are looking for customer service. However the techs do a good job.

I paid nearly $3,000 for a full rat removal and exterior exclusion. Within a year, something chewed straight through one of the areas Ultra Safe sealed. When I contacted them, instead of standing behind their work, they told me the 3‑month warranty had expired and tried to sell me a $199 “discounted inspection.” To be clear: this wasn’t a new issue — it was a failure of the original exclusion. A properly sealed entry point should not be chewable. I expected accountability and professional follow‑through for the price I paid. What I got instead was an upsell. Extremely disappointing experience, and I would not recommend them based on how they handled a clear workmanship failure.
