United Roofing & Sheet Metal is a Brookfield roofing company that describes itself as a three-generation business of more than 80 years, doing roofing, metal wall panels and solar installations for commercial properties across the Northeast. A 2024 customer said they had hired the company several times over the past two years to fix issues in a large home they purchased. That 2024 customer said it replaced a broken stone chimney cap that weighed over 500 pounds, replaced broken and missing slate tiles on a slate roof and fixed a couple of leaks in a flat roof. The same 2024 customer called the company responsive and reasonably priced and said they would hire it again. Local news sites have reported criticism of the company's roof work from New Milford's mayor. Its BBB page is an A+. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0641555, as active, held by United Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc.
““You didn’t (mess) up once. You did it twice,” shouted New Milford Mayor Pete Bass on Thursday evening addressing representatives from United Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc. in Brookfield — the contractors performing the roof work Tuesday.”
“The roof project’s original contractor, United Roofing & Sheet Metal in Brookfield, was fired after the second blaze, with the contractors also blamed for a pipe falling and a ladder hitting a town truck.”
“The mayor said United Roofing & Sheet Metal was allowed to use the blow torch method in the fall because cooler weather meant temperatures were below the adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations. The process was not approved this time.”
We have hired United Roofing several times over the past two years to fix issues we have had in a large home we purchased. They replaced a broken stone chimney cap that weighed over 500 pounds, replaced broken and missing slate tiles from our slate roof and fixed a couple of leaks in our flat roof. They have been incredibly responsive, done great work and are reasonably priced. We will definitely hire them again.
