The most recent review of Valley Outdoor Design isn't from a homeowner at all — it's from another contractor. In July 2026, a customer running a multi-phase project in Boston credited Greg and his crew with communication and coordination across the job, and with a habit that apparently can't be taken for granted in the trade: when they were scheduled, they turned up. The company works out of Merrimac, on the Massachusetts side of the New Hampshire line. Its Better Business Bureau file puts the business's start at August 2017 and lists five employees, and it's carried an A+ BBB grade without being BBB accredited. It also turns up as a member of the Merrimac Chamber of Commerce. Google holds the bulk of the history — 4.7 from 34 ratings — with a second, older stack on Angi at 4.6 from eight. Nineteen reviews across five sources going back to 2017 is a real track record for a five-person outfit, and the praise clusters tightly: lawn and turf work, aeration and dethatching, and garden redesigns where the customer's wishes drove the plan rather than a stock template. That consistency, more than any single review, is what the rating rests on. The blemishes are real but old. Angi's profile flags a two-star review describing a leaf removal left unfinished and follow-up messages that went unanswered, and an older Google reviewer reported nobody arriving for a scheduled consultation. Both sit years back, and nothing in the recent stretch repeats the pattern — but they're the same failure mode twice, which makes them worth a question rather than a shrug. Ask how a job gets closed out and who picks up the phone if something's left behind. That's the useful split between the two sources: Angi's eight ratings are a snapshot of 2017 through 2019, while the recent Google reviews describe a different era of the company. Weigh them accordingly. Valley Outdoor Design is the sensible call for lawn restoration and garden work on the northern Merrimack Valley and North Shore — the kind of job where somebody has to know soil and turf, not just run a mower. Before booking, pin down the scope in writing, especially where cleanup ends and what happens if a crew has to come back.

Greg and crew did an amazing job for us on a multi phase project we are doing in Boston. Communication and coordination throughout the project was top notch. When we scheduled them, they were there without fail which unfortunately isn’t always the case with other contractors we use. They are our go to site contractor whether it’s landscaping, hardscaping, underground utility work or site and concrete prep work.

Errol and his crew from Valley did an amazing job transforming our front garden. Before, it was full of overgrown bushes and shrubs with little curb appeal. Errol really listened to what we wanted and thoughtfully designed a beautiful, low-maintenance garden that’s perfect for us. The whole experience was seamless and enjoyable, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Highly recommend!

We're very happy to be working with the Valley Outdoor Design Team. They know soil science, turf, grass, trees, and shrubs -- and did a fantastic job of dethatching and aerating our lawns here in Hampton Falls, NH. Highly recommended!

Rowley Village Green has worked with Valley Outside Design for a little over a year. Greg and Errol have been great and very "hands on". Would recommend highly. Frank Carideo President of the Rowley Village Green Association

My experience with Valley Outdoor Design dates back to its 1st landscape maintenance contract for this new 30-house condominium development in West Newbury. Errol grappled with lawns that had been seeded on land stripped of loam & a majority of plantings put in the ground at the wrong time of the year. Errol & his crew explored drought-tolerant options & creating seasonally appropriate improvement measures. Valley also understood Wetland Protections, Stormwater Management & mowing of designated fields. All of this required Errol to build & educate a crew, and to buy specialized equipment. Valley's snow management operation also now includes unique equipment to clear sidewalks, a narrow roadway & tight driveway parking. Weather-monitoring systems trigger an appropriate response, day & night, with snow melt, plowing & shoveling. Residents feel very confident that Valley is much more than a robotic contractor.
