VarsenScapes is a Norwich landscaping and stonework company. Its own Houzz profile calls it "The Stone Whisperers" and says one of its custom patios was featured on the April 2008 cover of This Old House Magazine. In a 2023 BuildZoom review, a customer said Matthew Varsen explained everything at every step, from initial design ideas through re-design changes, and respected their budget. That 2023 customer said Matt made a patio, stairways and a custom fire pit, then did the landscaping, and that his team cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. A 2023 Google customer said the Varsenscape crew did their patios and fixed a stone wall done by another company that had fallen apart. That 2023 customer said they also did a custom landscape with a natural-looking waterfall, fixed driveway drainage and sealed their chimneys. A 2023 Google customer said Matt Varsen did extra work outside the original scope without charging extra. When that customer's countertop cured improperly in the cold and warped 8 months after the job, they said the company came back and installed a new countertop free of charge. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0701747, held by VARSENSCAPES LLC, is active on the state registry. Its Rhode Island registration, GC-41524, is expired on the state registry, which lists it as "INVALID".
Matthew Varsen and his team are the nicest contractors I have ever worked with! Every step of the way Matt explained everything to us. From initial design ideas and re-design changes, Matt was creative and patient. We had a budget for our project and Matt was not only respectful of it but also had good ideas to help us get the most out of our dollars. Matt's team was courteous, polite and they always cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. Matt made us the most beautiful patio, stairways, custom fire pit, and then did the most beautiful landscaping. I have recommended Matt many times to friends, and every one of them has said the same things we are. In our opinion, if you want the best job done, for a fair price, by a great team, look no further than Varsenscapes
The Varsenscape crew was very professional and did great work on our patios. They also fixed a stone wall done by another company that fell apart. In addition to this they did a custom landscape with natural looking waterfall, fixed driveway drainage, and sealed our chimneys. I highly recommend Matt and his team!
We had an extraordinary experience with Varsenscapes. The quality of the work far exceeded our expectations. The team members are true artists with stonework. They labored over every detail. Matt Varsen also did extra work that wasn’t in the original scope without charging extra just because he wanted everything to be perfect. Finally, they really stand behind the work after the job is done. We had an unusual issue with our countertop curing improperly from the cold and warping 8 months after the job was done. They came back immediately and installed a new countertop free of charge.
