Automatic pool covers are the heart of Vega Pool Cover Services. Its BBB profile describes service, maintenance and repair of automatic pool covers plus installation of above ground swimming pools. On its website the company describes itself as family-owned, with nearly 40 years servicing inground pools and pool covers across the New York tri-state area, and says it also does inground pool construction and renovation. A recent customer said Juan installed their pool cover, coordinated the job with the electrician and did the work on schedule. A recent customer whose first cover the company installed many years ago said the track and cover were replaced, with the guys working late into the evening to finish. A recent customer said Juan and his team installed the pool cover six years ago and have maintained it since. A 2026 customer said they came the same day when a tree collapsed on the pool cover in terrible weather. A 2026 customer said Juan quoted a pool resurfacing at a price 35% better than earlier quotes, and his men came in less than a week as promised. A 2026 customer said the company built a new pool at the house and got it done on time despite bad weather. A 2025 customer said Vega Pools renovated a 50ftx23ft pool with concrete repairs, new gunite and equipment, and took care of a warranty claim on the lights. A recent customer said their card was charged before the appointment was scheduled, the visit was called off over hot weather, the first visit fixed an electrical circuit instead of the paid service, and a second bill for over $300 then came for a repair they never called for. A recent customer said they paid an additional $600 for cleaning and protective oil, were billed two weeks before the visit, the technician could not apply the oil because of a hole in the cover, and the office never responded to several follow-up emails asking for a refund. A 2025 customer said calls about cover maintenance were never returned. A 2024 customer called it the most unprofessional contractor they had used since moving to Connecticut. Always professional and will go out of their way to make sure it's done right. I have 3 covers with them and would highly recommend their services
I would not recommend this company. They charged my credit card for a service I signed up for before scheduling the appointment. I reached out the day before my scheduled appointment to confirm and was told they didn't plan on coming due to the hot weather. Fair enough! I'm not sure if they had planned on informing me about the cancellation or if they just didn't plan on showing up the next day. I asked to reschedule but was ghosted by their office manager. I ended up reaching out to Juan to reschedule the appointment and he was courteous enough to reschedule it the following week. His guys did come, but were rude and didn't perform the service that I had paid for. They were not aware of why they were there in the first place. They fixed an electrical circuit and left. I immediately called Juan back and told him they did not do what they were called for and he agreed they should've performed the service, apologized and schedule for them to come back another time. They did come back and perform the service as I had originally requested. That wasn't the end of it. They then sent me a 2nd bill for over $300 for a 'repair' I never called them for. They are unable to provide me with any correspondence that says I had called for the said 'repair'. Now I'm ghosted again. Honestly, I'm not sure if this is the new norm for contractors, but I regret calling this company.
Not honest, unprofessional billing practice. Refused to refund for the work they didn’t do. I contacted them to do pool cover maintenance plus extra service of cleaning and applying protective oil, which was additional 600$. The first warning sign that they billed my credit card two weeks before coming. During the visit technician said he couldn’t do oil due to hole in the cover, which can contaminate water. I contacted office with request for refund they were very responsive before appointment , but once I asked for refund for the work not completed they never responded after several follow up emails. It seems like family run operation so there is absolutely no accountability.
Juan at Vega Pool Cover did an excellent job installing my pool cover. He coordinated all aspects of the job, including with the electrician, and performed the work on schedule. He's responsive, friendly, and professional.
