Vermont Construction Company Roofing Division is a Colchester roofing company; its website describes it as a roofing contractor in Colchester, Vermont, and says it has been in business 10 years. It holds 4.5 stars from 125 Google ratings and 3.5 stars from 8 Houzz ratings. A customer says Brian led the crew that completed a leaking-roof job in 12 hours. On a portion of a barn roof, a customer says seven workers showed up at 7:00 a.m. and the work area was cleaned up by 10:30 the same day. A Milton customer says the company resided their home. Matt and Kip replaced two vent boots and fabricated a flashing system for a polycarbonate deck cover, according to one customer. A 2024 customer said a roof Vermont Construction put on in 2020 later leaked, and that a team fixed it and a second team repaired the ceiling drywall at no cost. A customer who had the roof replaced says the crew reattached gutters to rotting fascia boards despite a contract saying rotted wood would be replaced, and that the company now wants another $1000 to fix it. A customer writing as the builder says the company never finished the job it was hired for. A customer says no one showed up for a scheduled 8:30am roof visit and the call went straight to voicemail. A 2024 customer said that after replacing a roof section for almost 8000 dollars, the same area had a worse active leak. A 2024 post in r/vermont carried the title "Vermont Construction Company cited for housing workers in 'grossly hazardous and unsafe' living conditions." A 2023 Reddit commenter wrote that adding gutters was less than $800 and the new roof and gutters came to $8,055.
“Vermont Construction Company cited for housing workers in 'grossly hazardous and unsafe' living conditions”
“I went with Vermont Construction Company Roofing Division and adding gutters was less than $800 The total project for the new roof and gutters came out to $8,055”
The team from the estimate through install was very good. Install was smooth and as expected. Clean up was exceptional.
The company never finished the job they were hired for. The work crew showed up after hours to the site and were disrespectful to the home owner creating an issue for myself as the builder. Work done was ok but I am not impressed with the service or lack of common courtesy for the client. Still waiting for Rob to call back.
We had Vermont Construction replace our old roof, but there were quite a few things we are dissatisfied with. 1. Despite saying in the contract that rotted wood including fascia etc. would be replaced during the roof install, and the initial quote person saying that was “definitely something that would be addressed” during the roof install, the crew reattached our gutters to rotting fascia boards and left the soffit that has visible rot and mold. They now want another $1000 to come out and fix it. 2. They ordered the wrong skylights (we got vinyl interior and were supposed to have wood interior) and the integrated shades do not currently function. They told me I can call the shade company’s customer service. It is pretty clear the crew didn’t follow the simple installation instructions (which were in English AND Spanish). 3. Despite only speaking to people who spoke English during the entire process, the crew showed up to install the roof and not one person spoke English. They did good, quick work and cleaned up the property well, so I am not complaining about that but we were unable to communicate the above issues to the crew before they left, which was frustrating. Overall we are happy with how the roof looks and the quality of the install, but we are very disappointed when spending so much money that these simple things were not addressed and the company doesn’t seem to care at all to make it right other than to charge us a lot more for things that should have already been done. We went with this company over others (they were more expensive than other quotes we had gotten) because we thought they would take care of things like this. Definitely won’t be hiring them in the future and will find someone else to fix the soffit and fascia.
Working with VT Construction was a breath of fresh air from trying other roofing companies. My roof had started to leak in a fall storm, and I had reached out to about 10 of the top rated companies in the Burlington area. Every single one ghosted me at some point in the process, whether it was not showing up to look at the project when they said they would, never calling back or saying they would send a quote and never sending one. VT Construction was completely different. Elena came by next day, did a detailed walkthrough of measurements, questions and photos, and answered all my questions honestly. Another company was coming around the same time to look at the roof, and that didn’t bother Elena in the slightest. Spoiler alert - That company never showed. I received a quote from Elena that night that felt complete and accurate. They were booking 4-6 weeks out, but when they had a delay on another job, they fit me in. My roof was replaced within a week with an amazing crew. The project took two days. They cleaned up everything each night. (I even had a lot of overgrowth from my lawn that I have been struggling with and during their cleanup, they actually tamed a good amount in the process - which honestly was so appreciated and above and beyond). I will be recommending VT Construction to everyone. The professionalism, responsiveness, customer service, and reliability of this company is unparalleled in the Burlington area. I really appreciate the care and support they provided. Always choose VT Construction for your project.
Showed up on the day that they were scheduled and the hardworking crew completed the job in one day. Some shingles are sticking up, but hopefully the sun corrects that. Left a few nails on my driveway which is gravel with a bit of grass. Fortunately I found them with my metal detector, rather than my tires. I only noticed one problem while they were working, which they corrected. (Lack of two rows of ice guard, which was needed because of a 24" overhang.) Price seems high, but I needed it done. 1,500 sq ft ranch with simple roof and one layer of shingles to remove cost about $15,500.
