Villandry Contracting is an Arlington general contractor on Prentiss Road that homeowners hire for kitchens, bathrooms, additions and whole-floor renovations. The company says it has been remodeling since 1987, when David Villandry owned it, and that Fernando Carreiro — who started there as a carpenter almost from the beginning, then became foreman and project supervisor — bought it in 2008. The Better Business Bureau lists 15 employees, a second Arlington location on Mystic Street and accreditation going back to December 1986. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #101269, is verified active in the state registry, and BuildZoom records 423 permitted projects, 13 of them in the last three years, at values ranging from under $5,000 to the $100,000–$250,000 band. The written record leans heavily on repeat work. A December 2024 Google reviewer said the company had done multiple jobs for them over the years and was consistently organized, polite and timely; a 2023 reviewer used them on two different houses and said both jobs finished early and on budget. A 2023 gut renovation of a kitchen and first-floor bathroom drew praise for the foreman, John, and for a project coordinator who kept questions answered. On Houzz, a 2014 reviewer whose two-bathroom job grew to four baths plus a third-floor great room described the team as organized and on schedule, and another Houzz reviewer that year said Villandry sticks to its estimate rather than nickel-and-diming through construction. Those Houzz accounts are more than a decade old; the recent detail comes from Google. Word of mouth points the same way locally. An Arlington Reddit commenter said in February 2026 that Villandry had done large projects for them and was very professional. Two things are worth raising before booking. A January 2025 Google reviewer, who chose a different contractor, said Fernando replied with a nasty email and told them not to call again — the complaint is about how the loss of the job was handled rather than about workmanship, but it is the most recent written account on file. And Google's own average sits at 3.8 stars across ten ratings, below what the written reviews alone would suggest, so ask how many jobs run into friction. An August 2026 commenter on r/newhampshire also found them booked out longer than they wanted to wait. For an Arlington-area kitchen, bath or addition where a long permit history and a registered, BBB-accredited outfit matter, they are a reasonable call — confirm current scheduling and get the estimate's scope in writing.
