Vulcan Basement Waterproofing's website lists residential basement waterproofing, French drain installation, sump pump service and installation, crawl space waterproofing and basement crack repair. The company says it has been in business 79 years and offers free estimates. In a 2022 review, a customer said they never connected the discharge pipe, so the sump pump was pouring water behind the wall and causing mold. That 2022 customer also said they drilled through asbestos tile and mastic, leading to thousands of dollars of asbestos abatement, and that the project manager did not return phone calls over three weeks. A 2022 customer said the end result was good and on time, but that communication was complicated early on, with several assessments of the scope of work that were not fully aligned. A 2022 reviewer called Geoffrey Dahill very professional and recommended the company for basement needs.
Typical your area range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Vulcan Basement Waterproofing. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Not sure which you need? Start with an inspection — many reputable companies assess free, and independent assessments run up to $500.
The wall run getting the drain — a full 30×40 ft basement is about 140 ft.
Estimated range
$7,600 – $15,000
Typical waterproofing project around $11,300
The end result was good and on time. I am not putting 5 stars because communication was complicated during the initial phase, with several assessments of the scope of work that were not fully aligned. Everyone was meaning well but it created confusion, even if everything went as expected in the end.
Geoffrey Dahill is very professional and goes above and beyond to satisfy his customers. I would recommend Valcun Basement Waterproofing for your basement needs.
Do not use this company. They never connected the discharge pipe so the sump pump was just pouring water behind my wall causing mold (see photos). They drilled through absestos tile and mastic, requiring me to go through thousands of dollars of asbestos abatement and risking harm to me and my family. On top of this they have made little effort to resolve anything. The project manager, Victor, will not return any phone calls. I will be assured that victor will call me back and he never does. Over the past three weeks I’ve called Vulcan over ten times and each time an exasperated person on the phone will assure me that they relayed an urgent message to Victor and Terry again, and that they will call me by end of day, but they never do. The asbestos issue is concerning because they had their employees jackhammering through a material that is know to cause cancer, endangering their employees and my family, and yet they still have zero interest in answering a phone call. Don’t make the mistake I made, steer clear of this company. And if someone at Vulcan is reading this, I’m happy to change this review if you guys actually give me a call back to fix the system you installed.
