Decks and porches are the jobs people keep hiring Walter M. Montero Carpentry for. The Southbury, Connecticut carpenter holds 4.9 stars across 84 ratings on both HomeAdvisor and Angi, and the written accounts run from 2019 to 2026. The newest, from September 2026, says Walter stuck to his bid and cost projections and was upfront about every option and change as the project went along. In a September 2025 review, homeowners who asked for an estimate on a new deck railing said they got an honest look at the whole structure and suggestions for its appearance and stability rather than a hard sell, and that the job came in on time and on budget. Another September 2025 customer said the team did not rush and made sure the deck was safe at a very reasonable price, and an October 2025 reviewer described a fast, comprehensive quote and a porch that looks great. In a July 2023 review, a couple said Walter was on the job daily and turned a worn-out deck into an oasis; a June 2022 customer praised Walter and his son James and recommended him for Trex decking. The work goes beyond decks. Reviews from 2019 through 2021 describe window and door trim, gutter replacement and painting, a shiplap wall, a floor repair, two basement hopper windows in a non-standard size, two rebuilt porches, and a 2019 porch-frame repair that replaced rotten framing, flashing and shingling. In a December 2019 review, a homeowner said Walter installed two doors in non-standard openings before winter and walked them through choosing the parts and hardware. One knock: a May 2021 four-star review said a painting quote was very high. Its Connecticut home improvement registration, HIC.0571490, is active under Walter M Montero Carpentry.

Done well, on time, easy to work with.
We are so happy to have connected with Walter. What started as a request for an estimate for a new railing around our deck turned into a consultation - not a hard sales job, but an honest evaluation of the overall structure and suggestions as to how we could improve both its appearance and stability. Pricing was fair, craftsmanship was excellent, and Walter and his team delivered an outstanding finished product - on time and on budget! Walter Montero Carpentry will be a first call for future projects!!
