Four decades in one town is the through-line here. The Dunns say the business goes back to 1982, when Bill Dunn was cutting lawns and selling firewood before adding trucks, demolition and plowing; the Better Business Bureau dates the company to 1984 and counts 13 employees. It still runs out of 156 Center Street in Groveland, and the family says Bill and Theresa own it with their son Patrick in the business. The work reaches well past mowing. Lawn maintenance and organic fertilization programs sit alongside landscaping materials, masonry, irrigation, landscape design and property management, which is a wide spread for a company this size. What people who actually hired them describe is design-and-build yard work rather than a mow-and-go route. One recent Google reviewer laid out a whole-property job — cleanup, mulch, a wood-chip area cleared for parking, and more than 30 plants and trees installed — and credited Bill with coming out personally to work through the design and stay on top of the results. The reputation picture is not uniform, and that is the thing to weigh. On Google the company sits at 3.8 across 16 ratings, so the praise runs next to real dissatisfaction, while its BBB page carries an A+ grade; the company is not BBB accredited, and it turns up as a Groveland Chamber of Commerce member. Seven reviews spread across five sources over four years is a slim paper trail for a business this old — enough to see a shape, not enough to be confident about it. They make sense for a homeowner who wants one crew to design and build a yard, a wall or a planting plan and to have the owner involved rather than a dispatcher. Ask how the estimate is structured, who runs your job day to day, and — because they also sell materials and equipment — keep the landscaping work and any product purchase as separate conversations.

Bills team did landscaping, clean up, mulch and cleared area for car parking with wood chips. Landscaping of 30+ plants and trees. Great advice and worked in design with us. Came personally to discuss project and oversee results. Our yard looks fantastic!!! Great communication and greet service.

The owner is a terrible person. He is rude and doesn’t have good customer service. I will NEVER hire this company.

Purchased a lawn tractor from this family, and the entire mower deck fell off 5 weeks later. My fault for not knowing what to look for, but they knew they were taking advantage of me. Don’t make the same mistake I did, buy somewhere else.

Dear Bill and Theresa We wish to thank you both and your crew of dedicated, talented, and extremely hard-working craftsmen who created our new, very beautiful masonry retaining wall. This project posed many challenges starting with trying to replace a very large and heavy existing wooden retaining wall which ran along the property lines of a very small front yard. This did not allow for the use a backhoe ore any landscaping machinery. The entire project needed to be completed by hand in direct sunlight since there are no trees to provide any shade. Second, the weather during the construction was extremely sunny with temperatures in the high 90’s and high humidity. Throughout the entire project your men worked ceaselessly and extremely hard. They were always very courteous, respectful, quick to offer a smile, and focused on the quality of their work. The results of their efforts have resulted in a complete transformation of our front yard. We, and our neighbors, are so happy with their beautiful work. This was such a difficult project, and the beauty of this newly constructed wall surpassed all expectations of what was possible for our property. We also wish to thank you for being so straightforward in all communications and trustworthy throughout the entire project. This reassured us that you knew exactly how to tackle what we felt was an impossible project. VERY WELL DUNN! Steve & Patty Paparella ***The last photo is showing the old wall which needed to be replaced

I want to give a shout out to William Dunn Landscaping in Groveland Massachusetts for the years of outstanding work on various projects performed at my residence in town. Over the years Bill and his son Patrick have taken down trees, removed large stumps, performed excavation work, and been there for years of spring lawn needs. It was this most recent job, (pic attached) that really got me to reflect back-over the years with an appreciation for their experience, honesty, and fair appraisals. I had 100 feet of embankment in desperate need of an erosion containment solution. I started with a visit to the office where Bill’s wife Theresa noted my concerns and immediately relayed them to Bill who soon visited with his son to access the job, there were a number of factors that needed to be considered. We agreed on a plan of action and Patrick got to work with his team preparing the site and completing the work with precision and care. Each time I wandered out to be a nuance he would stop what he was doing and take the time to explain how things were progressing. I have enjoyed every moment working with this local business including seeing their dogs Toby and Gus who fight for attention whenever anyone visits their office on Center Street. There is a quaintness to living in a small town like Groveland, akin to “Cheers” where everyone knows your name and it is terrific having William F. Dunn Landscaping as part of Grovelands landscape. Personal thanks, Dan
