Wisteria & Rose does gardens the full way round — design and build by the same team, from first sketch to final planting, as Boston Magazine described it. The company says it has been creating gardens and landscapes across Greater Boston since 2001, led by president Kerry Preston, a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist, with certified horticulturists on staff. Boston Magazine named it Best of Boston Home in 2014, in the landscape architects and designers category. Two 2025 reviewers wrote about the design work at length. In August, a homeowner described a garden transformed with thoughtful design, careful plant choices and attention to detail; in July, another called the team professional, creative and attentive from the initial design through the final build. The sharpest note is about getting a price. A May 2026 reviewer, ready to sign a contract, gave two stars after multiple requests for pricing went unanswered — the front office was pleasant, they wrote, but nobody came back with numbers. A July 2025 one-star review describes something else again: the writer said their car was nearly hit on a New Hampshire highway, their six-year-old was left in tears, and called the driver rude. Google's average sits at 3.8 across six ratings, Houzz shows a single five-star rating, and its BBB page carries an A+ grade. The company lists Boston, Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Brookline, Newton and Wellesley among the places it works. For a designed garden — plant choices someone has actually thought about, not a mow-and-go crew — this is the right sort of outfit. Get the proposal and the pricing pinned down early, and confirm the schedule in writing before the planting season fills up.
