Wood & Wire Fence Co. says it has been providing fence service in Rhode Island since 1989, and describes itself as designing, manufacturing, wholesaling and installing residential and commercial fence systems. On its Better Business Bureau profile it describes permanent and temporary fencing, plus containers, in Greater Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. It holds an A+ BBB grade and 3.7 stars on Google from 75 ratings, and newportri.com has named Wood & Wire Fence Co. of Lincoln as the installer of a chain-link fence. A recent customer said the quote and the installation were professional, and that the company was booked out a bit but showed up on time on the exact date promised. That customer said they had tried to get quotes from no less than five other local fence contractors. A recent customer who ordered grade 1 cedar wood posts said the fence panels arrived riddled with knots, holes and cracks, with crooked nails. That customer said the replacement pickets were as bad as the first, nothing was resolved and no refund was offered. A recent reviewer whose neighbor hired the company said a worker came onto their property without permission to fix the fence and refused to leave. A 2025 reviewer called the temporary fence workers a real pain to deal with as a contractor.
“The Wood & Wire Fence Co. of Lincoln installed the 6-foot-high chain-link fence at a cost of $9,334, according to the application.”
Ordered grade 1 cedar wood posts from this company. Was told they were all made to order, quality product. However young receiving fence panels, they were riddled with knots, holes, cracks, the nails were crooked and nailed into each other, and overall not what was described. After speaking with the employees because management refused to talk to me, they offered me 3 replacement pickets to make up for it which is unacceptable. 15 sections at 8 feet long with as many flaws as there were. After some heated words, more pickets were offered tfor me to replace damaged ones with my own labor in which they promised they would be carefully inspected. However replacement pickets were just as bad bad as the first. Nothing was resolved. No refund was offered. And my fence looks terrible. Do not buy from this company.
Wood & Wire did a great job. Quote was professional, installation the same. They are booked out a bit, but showed up on time and on the exact date promised. I tried to get quotes from no less than five other local fence contractors, with some not even providing a quote, some with pricing and schedules all over the place, and a couple that were clearly just working out of the back of a pickup. My advice would be to not waste your time and just work directly with Wood & Wire.
This woman did not want to talk even through a door she tried to kick the installers they were very polite but you do have a Easement of 3 ft some people don't like their neighbors so they take it out on their contractors
My neighbor hired them and instead of obtaining permission to legally enter my property, they trespassed and when I asked them what they were doing on my property, first thing out of his mouth was, I am legally allowed to be here to fix the fence. I have him on video spouting this lie. After that he refused to acknowledge my existence and leave my property. This company clearly breaks the law and trespasses as a matter of course and he seemed trained in his response. Not a company to hire. Could adversely affect your relationship with your neighbors. If this company trespasses and lies to you, a call to the local police force is recommended. They ARE trespassing. They ARE breaking the law. The officers will come remove them and ticket them. I recommend finding a BBB accredited alternative to this company.
If there were someone cheaper I’d use them, but the temp fence guys are a real pain to deal with as a contractor.
