Woodland Moving handles household moves from Connecticut, from in-town jobs to moves out of state, and its website says the company has been at it since 1914. It holds 4.6 stars from 509 Google ratings and a BBB grade of F. A recent customer said Antonio and Eric packed their things for a move from Rhode Island to Texas. A recent customer said Albee and Harold wrapped and packed furniture for a move from an apartment to a storage unit and then a new home. A recent customer said a truck problem delayed the move with no call ahead, then the movers made up the lost time on a second-floor walk-up and the price came in under what they expected. A 2026 customer said the team carried every item up about 15–20 steps in extreme cold when the trailer could not reach the top of a steep hill. Damage claims are the sharp edge. A recent customer said a $4000 cabinet came off the truck with a sheared-off leg, a child's bed collapsed on first use after reassembly, and the claims department failed to provide a reasonable solution. A recent customer said a TV, chairs, a lamp and picture frames arrived shattered or broken and a couch was stained. A recent customer said movers damaged freshly painted walls and dropped a stone coffee table on freshly sanded floors. In 2025, a military customer said pickup was one day late and delivery nine days late, and that an upright piano was dragged across newly polished hardwood floors. A 2025 customer said the movers did not show up to pack and load, and the move was then cancelled. A 2024 customer said an end table leg was broken and a $1,300 leather sofa was ripped during a move from East Hartford to Manchester.
We had a very negative experience with Woodland moving and will not be recommending them to any family or friends in the future. We paid a significant premium over comparative moving companies for our large, in-town move because Woodland moving had been referred to us by a friend, and because at the initial assessment Mike seemed reliable and professional. First, the positive: the team loading the truck was fast and efficient and did not do any significant damage to the walls. Now for the issues: A $4000 cabinet was brought in with a completely sheared off leg and placed on that leg in an extremely precarious position. My mother happened to notice when it came off the truck, otherwise we would not have found out until the cabinet was nudged even slightly and toppled and broke further. When pointed out to the lead mover, he acted surprised and reprimanded the other staff even though he was the one that had brought the cabinet off the truck with a dangling leg. Our kids beds had several pieces missing during disassembly (which was done by the movers); the movers then spent several hours (mind you we are paying by the hour for this) trying to reassemble it, claimed that there was no issue even though it had clearly taken far longer than it should have, and then the bed collapsed on first use because it had been reassembled in a completely incorrect and precarious position to hide that pieces were missing. My kids had to sleep on floor mattresses for several weeks while we worked with woodland’s claims department to get these beds replaced, and ultimately they failed to provide a reasonable solution other than giving us extra screws, and I ended up having to purchase wood and reconstruct the support legs for the bed myself to make it stable. When pointed out that a couch was missing its legs, were told it never had any legs… it did and was later found on the truck - screws for a TV stand were missing and had to be purchased and replaced another bed with a support leg misplaced and not constructed correctly There were further smaller issues that - all of this that just emphasized that the crew was not being methodical with disassembly (hence all the lost pieces), and were being frankly deceptive to hide that multiple items were missing or broken. Finally, we had purchased insurance for the move - thankfully - but because of the deductible still ended up eating a several hundred dollar loss because of all the broken items. We did finally get our bar cabinet repaired, but the furniture repair company reached out to me 1.5 months later to tell me that they still had not been paid by Woodland and had refused to return his calls or messages.
TV, chairs, lamp, picture frames all arrived shattered or broken. Couch stained. Delivery workers told me before they even started unloading to expect this because “the truck was packed poorly.”
Update 8/10/26. We just got our stuff out of storage, two years later, from these people and their quality of service is just as horrendous as it was two years ago. The movers that dropped our stuff off were extremely careless. We had freshly painted walls that were incredible damaged. In addition, they dropped a stone coffee table on our freshly sanded/ glossed floors. They did not take their time in any capacity or care about protecting home or contents when moving. At one point, they were rolling a white round sofa chair through the grass to get it into the house and it had no protective blanket/ wrap on it. Photos attached. Do not use. Prior review from initial part of move: DO NOT USE. AVOID. They completely damaged a wall lining the staircase from the top to bottom and they broke a king mattress by trying to fold it in half. The claim process for the damage took almost 3 months. And the outcome was only $94 in compensation for a $2,500+ mattress. Completely ridiculous and unprofessional. When the movers were completing the job, they moved incredible slow, and took over 7 breaks throughout the day that were 15+ minutes in duration. We were charged for all of the time they wasted.
Eric and Angelina helped with move from CT to CO. Great service!
Worst experience ever….. the packers were terrible, the movers that picked up the stuff were amazing. The packers packed living room stuff with kitchen stuff bedroom stuff with kitchen stuff made no sense. A lot of my stuff arrived broken one of the Packers actually broke one of my mom‘s dishes. Didn’t even apologize. I can go on and on about how much I hated the Packers and how much of my stuff was damaged, but it is what it is.
