A&S Nathan Heating & Cooling is a heating and air conditioning company in the Ansonia area. When one recent customer's furnace pilot light went out, they called late in the day and two service men were at the home first thing the next morning, getting the heat going right away. The company says it has been in business 26 years, and its website lists a service area that includes New Haven, Hamden, Bridgeport, Shelton, Stratford and Trumbull. On Google it shows 4.9 stars from 739 ratings, and its BBB page carries an A+ grade and lists it as accredited. One customer whose boiler was down said the company got the needed parts within 2 days and came to install it right away. Ricardo cleaned and serviced a customer's oil-fired boiler, cleaned up afterward and fully tested the equipment, and that customer said they keep using A&S Nathan every year. On a 24-year-old AC unit, a technician took the time to find the problem instead of saying a new unit was needed. Kyle and crew replaced an A/C evaporator heat exchanger and hand-fitted a sheet metal heat shield to the existing duct work. Dave checked one customer's heating and hot water systems and gave a lesson on functions, alarms and controls, which that customer said they needed because modern controls were new to them. A 2023 customer said four guys arrived at 7 am to replace an oil boiler, protected the basement and stairs, finished in one day and walked through the valves and shut-offs. A 2022 customer said the company replaced a 33-year-old boiler, and that A&S had also installed a new central a/c system and replaced an indoor oil tank. A 2025 customer said David and his team came out early on a bitter cold, snowy day after the boiler stopped on a Sunday, and found the replacement parts the same day. A 2025 commenter on r/Connecticut said A&S Nathan had always been pretty good about coming out and dealing with emergency stuff promptly; a 2021 commenter there said they don't go too far down Fairfield County. A recent customer who owns rental properties in Fairfield County wrote that service slipped after the former owner sold, and that anything that went wrong seemed not to be covered by the service contract, resulting in an exorbitant bill. A 2024 customer said a service rep was training a new guy while charging an hourly rate, and that two parts that were not broken were replaced and charged at $360 even though the customer had asked the rep to confirm before changing parts. That 2024 customer also said follow-up work on the same issue came at no additional labor charge, and that a manager called back but was rude.
