A. Bonadio & Sons is a Waltham landscape design, installation and maintenance company that says it was founded in 1963, when Anthony Bonadio bought a small local landscaping company. The company says his son Michael took ownership when Anthony retired in 2012. Its website describes design, installation, maintenance, fine gardening, drainage, driveway and outdoor-living work, and lists a service area running from Weston, Dover and Needham to Osterville, Harwich, Chatham and Falmouth. The website also lists two certifications by name: Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist (MCH) and Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional (MCLP). A 2025 customer said they had three pathways done and that Jake was easy to communicate with. A 2025 customer described leveling, sodding, a front walkway and a back patio that had to happen before a house-warming party, and said Chris worked with their irrigation company to line everything up before the party, then kept checking that the sod and plants took. A 2025 customer said Jake walked them through their patio from material selection to aesthetics. A 2025 customer had a sprinkler system installed and the front and back lawns graded and seeded, and said the crew was on time. A 2025 customer who relies on the company for landscaping said Michael, the owner, was responsive and that the property was left well-maintained. On Google it holds 4.4 stars from 18 ratings; on Houzz, 3.0 from two. A 2021 Houzz customer said the price was high, that corners were cut on installations, that nobody followed up on the sod and plants, and that the company was hard to reach and did not return phone calls. A 2014 Houzz customer said Michael and staff were helpful and that they wanted them back to install a second phase. In a May 2025 r/newtonma Reddit thread, a poster listed Bonadio & Sons among the landscapers with which they "have had good experiences" for various jobs.
