A-Z Finish Carpentry runs kitchen and bathroom gut renovations out of Winthrop, coordinating the demo, framing, plumbing, and electrical alongside the finish carpentry, custom woodworking, and tile work that give the company its name. It describes itself as a residential and commercial contractor serving Winthrop, Boston, and the North Shore, run by owner Charles Draleau with Edward Mulrenin as lead carpenter. Its Google page holds a 5.0 rating across 33 reviews, and Angi shows 4.9 from 7 — both echoing the same throughline: full kitchen and bath projects where clients say Charles and project manager Samantha kept them constantly informed. Recent reviews describe a fire-damaged front door repaired rather than replaced so the original piece could stay in the house, and a bathroom remodel where a homeowner's own words were "impossible ideas and a million questions," met with patience instead of pushback. Houzz adds a deck rebuild, redone from the ground up after the old one collapsed, finished quickly and on budget. The one blemish in an otherwise consistent record is an earlier account of a project that ran well past its quoted 6–8 week estimate, stretching to 10, with some rework needed along the way before it got sorted out. Its Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license (#203042) is active with the state, and it carries BBB Accreditation with an A+ rating. Worth asking about directly: the company's own site cites 15 years of experience, but BBB's filing lists the LLC itself as incorporated in 2021 — worth clarifying whether that experience predates the current company or refers to the crew's individual background. For a full kitchen or bathroom renovation that needs multiple trades coordinated under one roof, this is a contractor with a verified license and a consistent story across three separate review platforms — just get a firm timeline in writing before signing.

Our front door was badly damaged during an evacuation due to a neighboring fire. I first considered changing the door, but preferred to have it repaired since it's original to the house. I wasn't sure it cold be repaired, but Jacquson replaced the glass and moldings, and consolidated the door around the locks where it had been damaged. We are very happy with the results, and we are happy that we could keep the original door!

Had such a great experience working with A-Z! Samantha, Charles, and the whole team were very responsive. Samantha especially was so helpful in making our bathroom look the way I imagined it, and was very patient with my impossible ideas and a million questions. :) I'm very happy with the end result and with the way the entire project was managed. I can't recommend them highly enough! Thanks, guys!

I couldn’t have asked for a better company than A-Z for my kitchen remodel! From the get go, Charles arrived promptly to assess the space for my estimate and I felt immediately comfortable that this was the company to work with based on his knowledge and ability to explain the project to me. From there, I met with Samantha, the project manager. I can’t say enough about how wonderful she was to work with and explained everything to me fully. I had roughly 600 questions for her at all times during the process and she always got back to me and answered all of them thoroughly. I had no experience in home improvement work before this and without Samantha, I truly don’t know what I would have done. All the workers who came out for the different portions of the project were wonderful as well and always arrived right on time. I will 100% use them going forward with any home projects that come up, and will be recommending them to friends and family who are looking for work to be done!
