Able Moving and Storage

An advance visit and movers who asked questions before acting feature in an August 2026 customer's account of Able Moving and Storage. The customer said the company assessed their belongings in person, explained what it could and could not take, and arranged the move well in advance. Patrick and the other movers arrived on time, followed instructions and asked for clarification when needed. The customer said they were moved in after a couple of hours. Based in Amherst, New Hampshire, Able says it has been family-owned and operated since 1974 and is part of the Law Family Companies network. Its website identifies it as an authorized Bekins Van Lines agent, offering local, commercial, long-distance and international moves, packing and storage. Google reports a 4.4-star average from 39 ratings. In a June 2026 review, another customer described Petey and his crew moving their mother out of a winter rental. They praised the movers' care and efficiency and said the crew packed and stored fragile items, frames and books. Able was also storing many of her belongings for the winter. Older customers described more complicated moves. A November 2025 reviewer needed to move out one day and into a new house the next. After the second closing, a call to Able's office brought the trucks and crew for delivery; the customer appreciated receiving the same crew on both days and reported no damage. An October 2025 reviewer described a New Hampshire-to-Wyoming move with loading at two locations and a difficult delivery approach, saying everything arrived in good shape and was placed where requested. There are complaints, too. A July 2024 reviewer praised John, punctual arrival and two movers, but said a temporary worker took frequent breaks and handled boxes without care. Paying hourly, the customer estimated that worker's inactivity cost $300–$400 and said they had to help another mover with a heavy item after the temporary worker stepped aside. Two May 2026 one-star reviewers also discouraged using Able; one called the company unprofessional, while the other advised going elsewhere. A December 2022 customer said the movers kept Dave's quoted price, required no deposit and added no hidden fees. They described on-time arrival, bed disassembly and reassembly, and furniture and boxes placed where requested, including moving some again when the customer changed their mind.
