Six trees had to come down on one customer's property, and two of them stood where a crane was needed to guide them clear of two houses and a privacy barrier. That customer said the Above & Beyond Tree team was punctual, communicated every step of the way, and worked with them on next steps when internal rot made a couple of the trees fall off-kilter. The company describes its own work as tree removal and tree maintenance. Evan Powell runs the business, according to a customer who said he was right there for them after storms in Harwinton and has also done careful pruning for them. A customer described Evan as an arborist who climbs. One Sunday night, a customer's aunt called about her indoor kitten, stuck high in a tree with no lower branches, and the police and fire departments had been unable to help. Evan was out at dinner with his family, answered right away, came over, climbed the tree in the dark and rescued the kitten minutes before heavy rain started. The customer said he charged a fair price and texted the next day to check on the kitten. A customer whose massive oak required a crane got three quotes: Evan's was about the same as one other, and the third was over three times his price. His crew also moved the huge trunk pieces at that customer's request. Removing a couple of trees from a back yard with no access meant climbing them and taking everything out through a gate of about 50 inches, a customer wrote. In a 2026 review, a customer said Evan and his crew did tree removal and trimming over a few days across several rental properties in New Haven. A 2026 customer said Evan and his crew took down an 80-foot spruce within 12 feet of the house with a crane, and did everything and cleaned up in less than five hours. A 2026 customer who also used him for a non-profit with five houses said he was not the cheapest tree person they had worked with, but would be the last one they used.
