On the Better Business Bureau, the company describes itself as providing air duct cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, kitchen exhaust cleaning and furnace coil cleaning. A 2009 customer said the workers arrived late because of a delay at a previous project but phoned ahead, then did a thorough job cleaning the ducts and disinfecting the area. A 2007 customer said the company was clean, neat and thorough, did not get anything on the furniture or carpeting, and was priced reasonably compared to other service choices. A 2005 customer said it was the only company with a brush system to get soot out of the vents for the same price. A 2004 customer said the company called within minutes of the request and did the work the next day. A 2004 customer said an employee left dirt and debris in the basement and dented a built-in cabinet while brushing down air returns. A 2004 customer who praised the service man, Steve, found the company very expensive, writing that 3.5 hours cost over $100 per hour. A local news site, wwlp.com, has reported that the Hood Cleaning Certificate of registration for James Van Houten, owner of Advanced Air Quality in Springfield, was suspended, and that he and the company are prohibited from working for five years.
