A Google reviewer writing in August 2019 said Affordable Masonry & Chimney had gone out of business after its owner, John, died in late May 2018. The writer said paperwork for open contracts had been passed to a family member and described the business's former home and workplace as demolished. Those statements came from an anonymous reviewer, who said they had delayed posting out of respect for the family. Earlier customers described chimney work, front-step sealing and a planned wood-burning-stove repair, along with disputes over payments and repeated missed appointments. In a February 2016 review, a homeowner said the company rebuilt a chimney vent, but an oil-company inspection later found spilled, dried concrete partly blocking it. The homeowner reported that appointments to correct the problem went unfulfilled, including more than eight missed appointments by January 2016. A March 2018 reviewer said they had paid half the price for a wood-burning-stove repair and waited four months while the worker repeatedly promised to come the following week. They described no-shows and poor communication. In May 2018, another customer described an $875 quote to seal front steps, a deposit taken promptly and nine cancellations in fourteen days. That customer said the work was eventually finished twelve hours before heavy rain, but also alleged swearing, threatening messages and a threatened lien over a remaining $75. They said a separate contracted job was never performed. A July 2018 reviewer alleged paying $1,800 without receiving the work, followed by missed visits, blocked calls and a disconnected phone line. Google showed a 2.5-star average from eight ratings in August 2026; the written customer accounts described above were published from 2016 through 2019.
