The work is whole-house: remodels, additions, kitchens and basements. Two of the three written reviews come from inside the trade. A kitchen installer wrote in November 2015 that the crew pays attention to the inner workings of each job, with the skills to do the work themselves and the judgment to hire quality subs to keep jobs moving. An architect, writing in June 2013, called Peter Allain a very competent builder who watches costs and stays on top of the details and the quality of his own and his subcontractors' work. The one homeowner account, from January 2015, is about a 1938 Cape with no insulation and many rotten boards; Peter recommended a cement composite as the replacement siding. BuildZoom's unclaimed profile lists 15 permitted jobs across Westborough, Northborough, Framingham, Ashland and Weston — kitchen and bathroom renovations, a two-car garage with a playroom above, a mini-split install — the most recent dated September 2021. BBB files the company under General Contractor and lists it as Not Rated, saying it does not have enough information to issue a rating. For a kitchen, an addition or a whole-house remodel around Westborough, this is a long-established, licensed builder, and the people who put their praise in writing were an architect and a kitchen installer who had watched the work up close. Ask to walk a job from the last couple of years, and get it in writing which parts the crew handles itself and which go to subs.

I have installed kitchens for Peter Allain and his crew. As an installer, it is refreshing to work with a team that pays attention to the inner workings of each job. They have the skills to do the work themselves, but know when to hire quality subs to keep jobs moving. Before my team arrives, they work out parking, power source, and prepare place for us to set up shop. They take time to coordinate with other trades to ensure a smooth install. When complications arise, and there are always a couple, they make it a priority work out a solution. Peter is a stand up guy. He builds a rapport with clients and tradesmen that makes everyone involved feel like an important part of the process. I look forward to working with him again.
We hired Peter Allain and his top notch crew (a shout out to Dave and Russ) to, among other things, re-side our 1938 Royal Barry Willis Cape. We had no insulation and many rotten boards. Peter recommended a cement composite as a replacement siding. We had never heard of Hardie Board but after visiting another historic home he had completed with the composite, we were sold on both him and the material involved. I'm happy to report our house maintained it's integrity and charm, and we are toasty warm, a novelty since we've lived here (17 years). As mentioned we did a full insulation, new windows and new doors. The process was seamless. Peter is so pleasant, informative and prompt to respond to all questions that I never had any concerns that went unresolved. His team is a pleasure to have on site, both professional and efficient with an eye for detail and quality work. Additionally, he presented us with a clear timeline and payment schedule in advance of the work. There were no surprises. We would definitely use him again and recommend Allain Construction without reservation.
Peter Allain is a very competent builder, who pays attention costs, and stays on top of the details and quality of his own and his subcontractors work. Professionally, an an architect I found he was very easy to work with. He understood the concepts of the design and how it influenced decisions on things not in the drawing set. I have have given his name out to several of my clients, and have no problem recommending him here on Houzz.
