When an Alpha Contracting job goes well, the reviews are specific about it. A December 2022 customer had the whole house painted in two days and wrote that no mess was left behind. In August 2021, the owner of an old house said the crew was willing to tackle the multi-paned windows of the front porch, which other contractors they had spoken with were not. A July 2022 homeowner had a farmers porch updated and deck repairs made, and wrote that the two of them iterated on the agreement several times before work started. Two accounts run the other way, and both are about money and scope. A September 2021 review, rated half a star, describes one signed contract covering three jobs: the customer says the workers walked off the first until they were paid more than the contract price, and that the second was never finished after payment. In October 2021, a customer who still gave five stars wrote of an unexpected price increase they accepted too quickly. Further back, an August 2015 review at two stars describes a miscommunication between the owner and the workers about what was to be done, and a return visit to finish what had been missed. The company is based in Merrimack and, by its Better Business Bureau profile, is owned by Helton Rodrigues, with the business started in 2020 and about six years in operation; that profile is not accredited and carries no rating, which BBB attributes to insufficient information. Reviewers name Helton, Jeff and John Macedo on different jobs — John Macedo and his team on a deck remodel in a March 2021 review that says the work finished in the time estimated and the area was cleaned as promised, and Helton and crew on carpentry and staining on a duplex in October 2020. Several reviewers describe the same habits: a September 2020 customer said the crew cleaned up every day and kept the site picked up, an October 2020 reviewer said they took all the trash, and an August 2021 customer said they came back to touch up areas the homeowner pointed out. Painting, decks and porches, and a master bathroom tiled in June 2022 are what the accounts actually cover. The written accounts run 2015 through 2022, so ask for a recent local reference or two. For exterior painting or deck and porch carpentry, this is the work these customers describe — but given the 2021 contract complaint and the price increase from that same autumn, put the whole scope and the price into one written contract, and agree what a change order costs before anyone starts.
