AMF Painting Corporation

AMF Painting Corporation is a five-person Winthrop shop, and the most useful thing written about it is eleven years old. That review, posted in July 2015, is worth reading in full. A Boston condo owner with water damage handed the job over and left for a week: the crew opened the walls, resealed the brick, reframed, replaced insulation, hung and finished sheetrock, and painted. He came back to a room "neat as a pin", the debris gone, and — his emphasis — an invoice that matched the bid. He liked it enough to send the same crew to his mother's house on the North Shore for a deck, the wrought iron out front, and the foundation. Three other reviews from those same weeks in 2015 say much the same in fewer words: a bathroom painted and a bathtub and cabinetry refinished at prices the customer called reasonable; on time and on budget with the owner on site; hired repeatedly for interior and exterior paint work. All five stars. One of the four came from another contracting firm rather than a homeowner. Here is the wrinkle. Every one of those reviews calls the company NPF, or NPF Decorators, and names the owner as Nick — while the Better Business Bureau records AMF Painting Corporation as incorporated in November 2018 with Nicholas Farmer as owner, on the same phone number. Same man, later company. The praise is genuine and it is his, but it describes work from a decade ago under a different trading name. What the company lists today: interior and exterior painting for houses and commercial spaces, cabinet painting and refinishing, deck staining, wallpaper hanging and removal, drywall and plaster repair, popcorn ceiling removal, and power washing — with a stated job range of $500 to $50,000 and a Greater Boston service area that includes Winthrop. The BBB grades it A+ and publishes no complaints against it, though the firm has not taken BBB accreditation. Before hiring, ask for references from the past year or two rather than leaning on the 2015 file. BBB records a Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs registration number for the business, 199763, running to October 2027 — confirm that yourself with the state, since it is the bureau's record rather than a registry check.
