Three Google reviews in four years, and every one of them names the same person: TJ, which is Anthony Vadala Jr himself. The Better Business Bureau records a North Reading sole proprietorship with four employees, trading since April 2010, doing residential masonry and hardscape work: brick, block, stone, tile and pavers. The reviews are few but specific. In a January 2024 review, a homeowner described Tony and his son Derek repairing and refinishing basement walls, and made a point of the small finishing tasks the crew noticed and absorbed into the quoted price rather than billing for. In November 2022, a customer whose roof job had turned up a cracked chimney wrote that the estimate sat mid-range among several he collected, and that what decided it was TJ's ability to explain what needed doing in plain terms, plus the fact he grew up in town. One thing needs settling before anything is signed. The company's own site calls it a fully licensed and insured masonry company, while the Massachusetts registry shows its home improvement contractor registration, number 187168 in the name of Anthony Vadala Jr, as expired. Masonry, patios and stone work are not covered by the state's registration exemptions, so ask directly whether that registration has been renewed, and get the answer in writing before work starts. Two smaller notes. The Better Business Bureau grade is A+, but the same page states the business is not BBB accredited and publishes neither reviews nor a complaint count. And the only mention of basement waterproofing comes from LinkedIn work histories posted by two people listing the company as a former employer, not from any customer. A reasonable call for brick, stone, chimney or hardscape work from a small owner-run North Reading crew, once the registration question is answered.
