Aviv Moving & Storage works out of Waltham and covers a wide swath of eastern Massachusetts — Boston, the North Shore, the South Shore — plus long-distance and interstate jobs. On Reddit, the company keeps surfacing the same way: as the one name locals volunteer without being asked. In one r/boston thread and again on r/northshore, different commenters each called Aviv "the one recommendation I always give." That word of mouth lines up with a long paper trail. Across 88 reviews collected since 2013 on Google, Angi, Thumbtack and elsewhere, the company holds a 4.4-star average on Google from 161 ratings and an A+ with the Better Business Bureau, with similar scores on Angi and Thumbtack. The reviews that repeat most describe fast, efficient local moves — crews that show up on time, disassemble and reassemble furniture, and finish ahead of the hours booked. One customer credited the team with safely handling a grandfather clock, large antique mirrors and stained-glass church windows in a 2023 move, and another described using the company three times over 15-plus years. Recent months follow the same script: mostly five-star write-ups for quick local jobs, with an occasional complaint mixed in. The pattern worth knowing about sits mostly on the harder jobs — long-distance and interstate moves, and the insurance side of things. A handful of reviews describe items broken, lost or missing, including antiques, after cross-country and international moves; a few of those reviewers say the crew talked them out of buying full coverage beforehand, and one 2025 reviewer said the resulting damage claim was settled for only a small fraction of the loss. That pattern doesn't show up much in the local, in-town jobs — it clusters on the bigger, longer relocations. For a local or regional move, the record is strongly in the company's favor: fast, careful, professional crews with consistent praise going back over a decade. For a long-distance or interstate move, or when shipping anything irreplaceable, it's worth asking directly about their insurance options and getting the coverage terms in writing before the truck arrives.
“Just booked Aviv! Thanks for the rec!”
“no, but I always plug Aviv movers out of Waltham. (They serve a wide area) Great quotes and great team of guys!! It’s like the one recommendation I always have to share. My cousin just used them to move from Melrose to the North End and they were very very happy. Have a great move!”
“Aviv Movers (I think our of Waltham but serve north shore) it’s the one recommendation I always give! Best quotes, kind hard workers. Def at least call for a quote”
Probably fine if you don’t have nice furniture. They tried to dissuade me from insurance the first haul, and i got anyway, so they left my nicest pieces for the next round. Got talked out of the insurance the next time - one antique is missing a full drawer- another has a huge chip out of the front. Nobody has called me back about this. They also spent hours trying to convince me it was impossible to remove two pieces of furniture from my home, saying the house must have been modified (it wasn’t). The house did not get built around the furniture. FINALLY (and probably $700 later) they got the furniture loaded.. shocker that it actually did fit out the way it came in They also labeled nothing. I’ve moved over 20 times, even abroad, and have never experienced such negligence BEWARE Angi is over for me as well. Can’t trust, clearly
