Award Masonry & Construction

Twenty reviews, every one of them five stars, and every one of them posted in a six-week stretch in spring 2023. That's the first thing to know about Award Masonry & Construction, a West Roxbury outfit whose Angi listing puts it at 33 years in the trade and whose own blurb claims a crew of more than 50. What those 2023 reviews actually describe is narrow but real. Chimneys come up most — three separate customers that April mentioned chimney repairs, one calling the work accurate and clean. In March a homeowner with cracked basement walls and water pouring in said the company came out, inspected, quoted a fair price and got the job booked quickly, fixing the cracks and waterproofing the basement for $14,500. Another had roof leaks repaired and old shingles replaced; a third got new front steps. The rest is thin. Most of the twenty entries run two or three sentences of general praise — professional, reasonable, would recommend — with no job named and nothing to check. And the same twenty appear on both Angi and HomeAdvisor, so this is one record shown twice, not two. The service list, by contrast, is wide: masonry, basement waterproofing, foundation and chimney repair, roofing, siding, patios, asphalt driveways, retaining walls, power washing and seal coating. Angi also lists the business as veteran owned and operated, with Spanish spoken and emergency service available. Treat what's written as a snapshot from spring 2023 rather than a current picture. If you call them, ask for references from jobs in the last year — ideally the same kind of work as yours — and get the scope and the price in writing before anyone starts.
