Beech River Mill makes custom louvered and paneled wood products, and on Houzz it says the mill staff build them to order on some of the original Victorian-era machinery, using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. The company says it has been in business for 171 years, and a woodshopnews.com profile has described it as a family-run business producing doors, shutters and blinds for clients throughout the country. Shutters are the core of the work. A 2023 customer said they bought a historic home in 2019 and compared several shutter companies before choosing Randy Ouellette and Beech River Mill. That 2023 customer said Randy came to the house again and again, invited them to the factory to watch their shutters being made, and that the delivery and installation were seamless. A 2024 customer said their exterior shutters had just been installed and that the installation team was prompt, efficient and cleaned up the workspace. A 2025 customer said the mill made new period-authentic shutters for their 300-year-old house. Doors come up in the woodshop's work too. A 2025 customer said they hired the mill to make three custom doors for a 1900 Queen Anne Victorian home converted into a medical practice. That 2025 customer said Randy and Jeff custom-matched the original doors, measured the spaces before making them, and made micro-adjustments all day during installation because the doorways were not perfect rectangles. Smaller jobs get attention as well. A 2023 customer said the mill made replacement slats for a louver door that was missing some. A 2025 customer said Jeffrey formed a guide and routed a hole in some shelves to match the other one exactly. A 2026 customer who does woodworking said they stopped by for help with a small part of a project and left 10 minutes later. On Google the mill holds 4.8 stars from 22 ratings.
“Beech River Mill is anything but your run-of-the-mill woodworking shop. This family-run business produces custom louvered and paneled products such as doors, shutters and blinds for clients throughout the country”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This mill is a true gem! The rich history really shines through, and the shutter quality is absolutely outstanding. You can see the craftsmanship and care in every piece. Exceptional products and a wonderful experience- I would highly recommended!
Great service! I stopped by Beech River Mill to see if they could use a router on some shelves. Jeffrey was able to form a guide and rout a hole matching the other exactly. Chris and Jeffrey were friendly and helpful. They gave a history of the 170 year old Mill. Great people!
I never leave reviews, but I want to leave one for Beech River Mill. I hired them to make three custom doors for a 1900 Queen Anne Victorian home that I converted into a medical practice. What a top notch experience!! The workmanship, professionalism, work ethic, and attention to detail of Randy and Jeff were next-level. They were absolutely phenomenal- everything from responding to inquiries, custom matching the original doors (you'd never know the new doors weren't here the whole time), measuring the spaces with total precision before making them, and then installing the doors with heroic effort to get them perfect. The doorways were not at all perfect rectangles and they made micro-adjustments all day to get each door just right. The doors are hung so perfectly that they stay where you leave them when you partially open them (instead of swinging back to some another position like most doors do). Honestly, I could not be happier with the project. It's hard to find businesses today that you can trust to provide high quality work and Beech River Mill is one of those companies. I give them the strongest possible recommendation without hesitation and am definitely going to hire them again. I'm actually looking around now to see what else they can do here to improve this project. I wasn't thinking of replacing the original front door, but now that I know what they can do, I am not afraid to upgrade it. Thank you, Beech River Mill!!
We’re so thrilled with our new, period-authentic shutters from Beech River Mill! Our 300 year old house just got a beautiful facelift! We really enjoyed our tour of the factory by the river as well. A lot of time and attention goes into every project this team takes on.
