Best Home Performance is a Colchester insulation outfit that seals attics, blows in cellulose and insulates garages and walls, with decks and small repairs on the side. The company says it serves homeowners across Connecticut. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0658604, is active on the state registry. A recent customer said the crew worked efficiently on attic air sealing, a bathroom exhaust fan vented to the outside and sealed recessed light covers in the attic, and left the job site very clean. A 2025 customer said Chris and his team finished an attic job the customer had started, sealing it and blowing in the cellulose in less than a day. A 2025 reviewer wrote that Christian found the source of a cold draft in a direct vent fireplace and that after the fix there was no draft at all. A 2023 customer said they blew insulation into a garage from the outside, through the plywood after removing the vinyl siding, and cleaned up the dust when they were done. A 2025 customer said Chris and his crew finished a lower deck in one day. A recent customer said no one showed up for a porch appointment and that Chris answered the phone with "yeah it happens sometimes". A 2025 customer said the company claimed to be an approved Energize CT contractor, that a rebate of about $2,000 never came through, and that Christian stopped answering after promising to pay it out of his company. A 2024 customer said exterior walls were not filled to the R15 that was claimed and that a $3,000 rebate never came. A 2024 snow-removal customer said no one came after a December storm, and that the company returned the payment.
Had some insulation work done this past week through Ms. Insulation and through the energize CT program (I think a sister company at the same address as Best Home Performance?) and overall good experience. The owner, Christina, was present start to finish for the job and kept a close watch on the crew. The crew were young, but incredibly hard working and kept a positive attitude throughout the project. The energize CT inspector was present throughout this project to ensure quality and had minimal comments, and comments mostly referred to new protocols just introduced January of this year. Christina and her team also found that the energy audit we had in May did not complete the air sealing that they were supposed to, and she and her team completed their work for them so we could continue the insulation job and be eligible for rebate. She was responsive to questions along the way and made sure the job was completed properly. Some questions I was looking for a more technical explanation, but I should have done my due diligence and research before hand and talked to the folks at energize CT (1-877-WISE-USE) to fully understand which walls and joists need insulation and air sealing. Overall Christina is knowledgeable about the rebate program and the rules they need to follow to qualify. If you are looking for cellulose insulation through the program, their prices are hard to beat and the job was done properly and to completion
I had an appt for them to come look at my porch and get it fixed before winter in which Chris was supposed to come to my house. No phones calls ahead of time to confirm appt. No one showed up on the day of. When I did call Chris answered and stated “yeah it happens sometimes”. If it were the other way around I’m sure that customers couldn’t use that excuse for company’s and wasting their time. Unprofessional and not understanding as I waited weeks for this appt when I could have had someone else out and started it by now.

BHP clearly explained the work process, the crew worked efficiently to complete the job and left the job site very clean. The work done included: attic air sealing, bathroom exhaust fan vented to outside, install and sealed recessed light covers in attic. We will definitely use BHP in the future when needed! Chris came out timely to look at my deck job and gave a very fair price. After meeting, his written quote was emailed to me and shortly thereafter he scheduled the job. Before the work began I had some plumbing issues and my screened in porch became damaged from a fallen tree. Chris was so kind and agreed to take on the plumbing job and fix my porch in additional for the deck repair work. His crew was here for a day and a half and got all the work done. They were professional and did an excellent job. I will definitely be using this contractor again.
