Bill Lohsen Plumbing & Heating Inc. does plumbing, heating and cooling work, and a recent r/vermont commenter said they have had good luck with the company for plumbing repairs and that the guy they usually send knows his stuff. Its website says the business has over 35 years of experience. In a 2023 review, a customer who had lost water pressure from a well system said a tech named Tyler arrived before the 8am appointment, showed them the broken pressure tank switch, and replaced it along with a rusted-out pressure indicator in around an hour. A 2024 customer said their 40+ year old boiler was replaced and called the crew efficient and polite. A 2025 customer said the company replaced a heating oil tank the next day at a fair price. A 2025 customer with a leaky pipe under a trailer said the guys were back within 10 minutes of the call once the water was turned off, fixed it and cleaned up. In a 2022 review, a customer described a mini-split installation finished according to the proposed timeline and named Drew, Levi and Brandon. A recent customer, writing about a hot water heating system at a commercial building in Fair Haven, Vermont, said they were told the system had been temporarily repaired, that an estimate promised for Monday never arrived, and that the equipment was later found partially disassembled, with panels removed, insulation pulled out and electrical wiring exposed. A 2026 customer said a bill for over $150 arrived weeks after an estimate for a new water pump and heater, with no notice that the estimate would cost anything. A 2026 reviewer wrote that the company tried to charge them for an estimate on replacing old equipment. A 2026 customer said the same part on their gas furnace failed twice, lasting only 6 weeks, and that the technicians did not try to warranty it. In a 2025 review, a customer with no heat said a tech examined the boiler and promised to order parts and call back; Drew returned one call, and after four more calls the tech never got back to them. A 2023 customer said a tub spout flew off the night it was installed and that it took 10 phone calls over 3.5 months to reach the owner about adjusting the bill.

Very Disappointing Experience – Serious Safety Concerns and Lack of Follow-Up I had a very disappointing and stressful experience with Bill Lohsen’s company regarding the hot water heating system at my commercial building in Fair Haven, Vermont. They were recommended by Marcell oil company after our heating system stopped working. Their technician initially inspected the system and told me that a valve needed to be replaced. The technician returned on Saturday afternoon, and around 5:00 PM, I received a call informing me that the system had been temporarily repaired. However, they also told me that the entire system was too old and needed to be replaced. They promised to email me an estimate on Monday. On Monday morning, I called and sent text messages requesting the estimate. I continued checking my email every day, but I never received a quote, a follow-up call, or any explanation. What upset me the most was the condition in which the equipment was left. When we tried to find another professional to inspect the system, we discovered that the heating equipment had been left partially disassembled, with panels removed, insulation pulled out, and electrical wiring exposed. I have attached photos showing the condition of the equipment. I am extremely concerned about the potential safety hazards, especially in a commercial building with occupants. I am also worried about possible building code violations. To make matters worse, I have been unable to find another contractor willing to take over the repairs because of the condition of the equipment. I understand that this is an older heating system and that replacement may eventually be necessary. However, I believe that any professional contractor should leave equipment in a reasonably safe condition, clearly communicate what work has been performed, and follow through on promised estimates. Instead, I was left with an unfinished situation, unanswered calls and messages, serious safety concerns, and an enormous amount of stress. As a building owner, I take the safety of my property and its occupants very seriously. This experience has been extremely frustrating and upsetting. I am sharing my experience so that other property owners can make informed decisions when hiring this company. I expected professional service, clear communication, and responsible handling of the equipment. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
Always on time and efficient.
Outstanding!
We used these folks a couple times in the past without flaw. Because of this I wanted to use them again so I called and asked for a quote on a new water pump and heater, they said no problem and came out a few days later to give me an estimate. Weeks later I get a bill in the mail saying I owe them over 150$ for giving me a quote on a potential product and gave me the estimate. Absolutely never disclosed that giving me an estimate wouldve cost so much money, every contractor ive contacted in my entire life has been free estimates or at the very least would disclose if quoting me would cost money. Won't be paying, won't be back. Attached is photo proof.
Me and my partner had a terrible experience with them, they tried to charge us for an estimate on replacing our old equipment!
