The thing to raise before hiring: its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 118532, is expired in the state registry. Painting-only work is exempt from that registration in Massachusetts, but this company also advertises carpentry and repair work, which is not — so an expired registration is a real question, not a technicality. Ask directly whether it has been renewed before signing anything that involves more than paint.
