BuildZoom flags Bob Apse Construction with an alert badge and scores it zero for one reason: it could not verify an active licence. Every Massachusetts entry in the company's licence block is inactive or cancelled, including two separate home improvement contractor numbers, #201191 and #146124, and construction supervisor licence CS-079588. A Newton residential-builder registration is printed as active while simultaneously marked "License Not Verified" with a December 2022 expiration, and its number matches the digits of one of the cancelled HIC records. For a business whose work is kitchens, baths and whole-home remodels, that is not exempt paperwork. Get a current registration number and check it against the state registry before anything else. The one customer account on file is a hard one. In April 2023 a Houzz reviewer described hiring Bob Apse to convert a bathroom for handicapped accessibility, taking out closets, building a walk-in shower, and adding a washer-dryer closet with the plumbing for it. The reviewer wrote that despite an unlimited budget the work cut corners, the toilet and sink were never moved, a closet by the entry door was never removed, and roughly $35,000 in, the job was left unfinished. The permit history is more ordinary. There is a steady trail of small-to-mid remodeling work that towns permitted and inspected, and there is one detailed 2023 account of an accessibility conversion that went badly, set against a licence record with nothing current in it. If you are considering them, ask for active HIC and construction supervisor numbers in writing, ask directly about the 2023 accessibility project described on Houzz, and tie every payment to a completed, inspected stage.

Bob Apse was hired to upgraded a bathroom to be handicapped accessible, he was to take out closets, create a walk in shower and install a washer dryer closet and plumbing. He had an unlimited budget but cut corners, did not move toilet or sink, did not delete a closet by entry door, created strange angles around shower, the room was not handicapped accessible and he thought he could out yell the customer. Never offered to fix the project or return money for plumbing not done. After receiving $35,000 he never finished, refused to install a taller toilet, refused to show invoices for plumbers or electricians which should have been needed to complete work.
