Kitchen Nation

One customer had settled on gray cabinets. David and Steve came out, held a blue door up against the countertop, and the whole plan changed on the spot. That kind of on-site help choosing finishes is what people keep describing about Kitchen Nation. The company works out of Brookline and calls itself a Boston-based kitchen and bathroom remodeling contractor, covering Brookline, Newton, Chestnut Hill, Cambridge, Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, Somerville and Needham. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and its Better Business Bureau page carries an A- grade. Kitchens are the bulk of the work: shaker and flat-panel cabinets, quartz and granite countertops, waterfall islands, hexagon tile and glass backsplashes, hardwood and porcelain tile floors. Bathrooms come up almost as often — a tub-to-shower conversion with custom tile and a new vanity, marble shower walls with matte-black rainfall fixtures, black tile floors with a built-in shower shelf. When a pipe burst in a Jamaica Plain bathroom in May, they came out, put the room back together and upgraded the shower while they were there. Cabinet refacing and refinishing is its own lane for people not replacing everything: one customer's old cabinets came back as white shaker with a smooth finish and a fast turnaround. Price is the other thing reviewers raise, over and over. Several say they collected three or four quotes around Newton and Brookline first; one wrote that nobody else matched the price and the attention, and another that the crew "didn't play weird pricing games". On Reddit in May 2026, a Boston homeowner in the middle of a project called them "super affordable and cool guys" and mentioned that one of the owners also runs a company in Austin; a commenter in a second thread recommended them while their own job was underway. Two things worth pinning down before you call. The written history is new — every review on file was posted in 2026, and the 5-star Google average across 50 ratings comes from that same stretch. And while the company lists full house renovations alongside kitchens and baths, what customers describe is kitchens, bathrooms and cabinetry, so if your project is bigger than that, ask to see comparable work. For a kitchen or bathroom remodel around Brookline and Newton where you want someone to help you choose the finishes rather than hand you a catalog, this is a straightforward call. Ask who your day-to-day contact will be — Steve, David and Michael are the names customers use — and get the timeline in writing before demo starts.
