Bob's Cash Fuel brings heating fuel to homes around Madison, and a Belgrade customer who signed on almost six years ago says its customer service, prices and quality of service turned them into a loyal customer. The company says it has been in business 45 years and calls itself one of the few in Maine certified to recertify propane tanks up to 419 lbs. A 2026 Reddit commenter in r/Maine pointed people to "Bob's in Madison" and added "No prepay." A 2026 customer said a technician came out on one of the coldest nights when their furnace died, fixed it and explained what was going on as he worked. A 2026 propane customer said their 20-year-old furnace quit over the holidays, and the service manager sent over a heater so the pipes would not freeze while parts were ordered. A 2025 customer who had been quoted a month's wait by a larger Central Maine supplier said delivery from Bob's always came within a week. A 2024 customer wrote that oil was delivered even after they left a vehicle in the way. In a 2023 review, a propane customer said the owner drove a delivery up their driveway himself one evening after a torrential rainstorm because his drivers needed to be relieved. A 2026 customer who called for emergency fuel at 11pm on a weekend of -20 windchill said it took 18 hours and several phone calls to get it, after paying an emergency fee. A 2025 customer said a prepaid kerosene order never showed after they were told they were next, and no one called. A 2025 customer said they were billed higher rates than the fuel prices quoted to them. A 2024 customer objected to how payments were applied to accounts and said the company sued them after they left. In 2022, a customer who had bought a furnace and oil tank from the company a year earlier said they were told service might come the next week because they did not buy their oil there.

Belgrade customer - highly recommend for customer and quality of service; I signed on with Bob's when I purchased my home almost 6 years ago really because they could get there the quickest, I figured I'd change companies when I was settled and had time to wait for a more well known company. Fast forward almost 6 years later, their customer service, prices, and quality of service have converted me to a loyal customer. The girls who answer the phone know what their doing and every time I've called it's been a breeze - this cannot be said for all local companies. I have recommended them to friends for these same reasons, and they have reported back the same. When you just need someone to show up and take care of your heating needs, these guys are it.

My furnace died of course on one of the coldest nights. One of Bob's cash fuel tech's came out. He had to mess around with a few different things to figure out what was going on . Furnace had a big bang that scared me . My fear is fires cause I have all my animals to worry about, so big bangs and bad smells and smoke definitely gave me some anxiety. Adam I think his name was he was so calm and kind he stayed while I drove my daughter to work to reassure me the furnace was fixed and to ease my mind . He got it fixed and told me what the issue was and the furnace has been good since . I can't thank him enough for his kind and caring demeanor he was calm thru the whole thing and that kept me calmer and he explained everything going on as it was happening . He is a good young man and a class act who represents Bob's cash fuel very well. Thank you again for your kindness and caring while fixing my furnace.
I am so lucky to have Bob's Cash Fuel as my propane and service provider. This holiday season my entire family was coming to visit and my 20 year old furnace quit. Bob's sent a tech right out and found serveral problems. While parts were ordered Nate the service manager sent over a heater for my building so my pipes would not freeze until the parts came in. When the parts arrived Joe Gettchell one of their techs install the parts and could not have done a better job or been neater. Everyone from the office staff, technicians, delivery people to management are first class. As a local realtor I always recommend my clients use Bob's for all their needs.
On a weekend of -20 windchill, I called for “emergency” fuel at 11pm and was told it would be delivered the next morning for an emergency fuel fee. Sure, no problem. I pay for the fuel plus the fee. Fast forward 18 hours and several phone calls later, just getting the fuel. Ridiculous emergency service!
