Bolt Electric says on its website that it provides electrician services to central Vermont, including Montpelier, Waterbury, Barre, Randolph, Calais, Waitsfield and Marshfield. On Google it holds 4.8 stars from 20 ratings, and the Better Business Bureau grades it A-. A recent customer had a malfunctioning outlet, a broken switch and breakers that seemed loose; Johnny checked everything out and quoted replacing the outlets with GFCI devices. That customer said the official quote was $386.25 and the final cost came to $325 with a discount for paying by check. A 2024 customer said they lost power in half the house overnight, sent a request through the website at 6 AM and had the problem fixed by 10:30 AM that day. A 2024 reviewer wrote that the company replaced their riser and meter. A 2023 customer said Johnny and his crew completed a whole house rewire at the cost quoted upfront. A 2023 reviewer said the company ran power into 4 rooms and installed 4 lighted ceiling fans while it was over 120 degrees in the attic. In a 2022 review, a customer said another electrical company had quoted over 8K to replace their underground wire; Johnny diagnosed the issue within 20 minutes and returned within an hour with a new meter box. A 2022 customer wrote that they called and the company did not respond.
Excellent experience overall. We had a malfunctioning outlet that was affecting another outlet in the house. Plus we also had a broken switch and some concerns about a few breakers that seemed loose. Scheduling was easy. Johnny came and checked everything out. He gave us a quote to replace the outlets with GFCI devices, which seemed reasonable. He also said our breakers were functioning properly, but that they were old and if some started to break down it would be cheaper in the long run to replace the entire panel. I asked what that would cost and he quoted us around $2,000, which again seemed reasonable. We got a followup call and email asking if we wanted to schedule the work. They gave an official quote of $386.25 but the actual cost ended up being less (which was a pleasant surprise). They also give a discount for payment in checks, so altogether it was $325. I don't think we were charged for the preliminary visit, which as far as I know is not the case with other local companies like Lloyd. Maybe there is a charge and they drop it if you get the work done, but we were never informed of one so I'll assume there isn't. The guys who did the actual work were friendly, respectful, worked quickly, and explained everything clearly. The woman who runs scheduling and billing called a number of times to confirm things throughout the process. I had asked about mailing a check but she actually came to pick it up herself, so that made things easy. I also like their system of sending you everything via email so that you have a record, can see the official quote and approve it ahead of time before scheduling, and also view your invoice. So all in all, communication was excellent, they were reasonably priced, were pleasant and easy to work with. Will definitely go with Bolt again should we have future electrical issues.
Responded quickly! Very courteous and professional
Super happy with our service from Bolt. We lost power in half our house overnight, I sent a service request through their website at 6 AM, got a call from the office at 8 AM and was able to schedule a repair for the same day. The guys were communicative and thorough, we got our problem fixed by 10:30 AM! I really appreciate how quickly we got everything resolved, and on a snowy day no less
We are very grateful for Bolt electric. They were prompt in getting us scheduled and were early on the day of the service. Afterward we called them because of a different issue. We embarrassingly missed this very simple fix. Bolt was non-judgmental of these new homeowners and really accommodating to visit us the same day.
I highly recommend Bolt Electric for all your electrical needs! We needed help setting up a pedestal and running a line for our new electrical service and Johnny and his team were extremely communicative and gave us updates along the way. He and his team are true professionals and overall great people.
