Bonugli Construction is a one-man finish-carpentry shop in Tewksbury with a 70-year family name behind it. The company says Leo Bonugli founded it in 1956, that his son Stephen took over in 1981, and that Stephen's own son now works alongside him — three generations. Its BBB file dates the Massachusetts business to January 1981 and lists a single employee, with Stephen Bonugli as owner. The credentials hold up. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 124096, is active, verified against the state registry under Stephen A. Bonugli, and Massachusetts construction supervisor licence CS-122500 is active under Stephen L. Bonugli. BuildZoom's page lists a third active construction supervisor licence and, separately, an earlier home improvement registration (115353) it shows as inactive and at one point cancelled. The BBB page is an A+, though the business is not accredited there. The work itself is millwork-first: bookcases, fireplace mantels, kitchen islands and entertainment units, alongside interior finish carpentry, additions, remodeling and custom home building across Tewksbury, Wilmington, Andover, Billerica and the wider Merrimack Valley. BuildZoom's permit records show seven permitted jobs — additions, renovations and a deck around Tewksbury, plus two 2008 projects in Melrose. Nothing written by a customer turned up on any platform checked. For a single-craftsman shop that lives on referrals that is not unusual, but it puts the quality question back on you: ask to see finished millwork in person, get two or three recent client phone numbers, and check that the HIC number on your contract is the active 124096 rather than the cancelled one.
