Boston Kitchen Designs runs a small Middleton showroom where owner George Menihtas has been designing and building kitchens and baths since 1987 — 39 years in business, according to its BBB profile. Nearly every review names him directly: he measures the space himself, works through the design over weeks rather than handing off a template, and stays involved from the first sketch through the final install. The pattern across the reviews is a full design-and-build process, not a simple installation. Two recent reviews describe George personally walking new clients through a from-scratch kitchen and bathroom design, measuring the space himself and working through a vision over several weeks. Older reviews back the same picture: in a 2023 review, one customer described a full gut remodel of both a kitchen and bathroom, and another 2023 review said a quoted six-to-eight-week kitchen replacement came in exactly on schedule with no delays. He has also gone back after the fact — in a 2023 review, a homeowner described him returning, unprompted, to fix loose grout that surfaced two years after the original job. Not every project has gone that smoothly. In a 2023 review, one couple said an estimated two-week job (a wall removal, a new island, a hood vent) stretched to 18 weeks, and described George as more of a coordinator who was rarely on-site while subcontractors did the work. Two brief 2022 reviews allege poor-quality materials and workmanship without giving specifics. The company carries an A+ BBB grade but is explicitly not BBB accredited. Boston Kitchen Designs reads as the right call for a homeowner who wants one person — the owner — driving a full kitchen or bath redesign from concept through installation, working out of a showroom rather than a big-box process. Given the one lengthy-overrun account, it's worth pinning down upfront who will actually be on-site day to day and getting the schedule in writing.
George, the President of the Company, came out and introduced himself and took measurements for the first meeting. I did not know much about kitchens, cabinets, etc, so we took a few weeks to really work on the design and come up with a vision. Never felt rushed and I appreciated his attention to detail. Pricing was clear and the project followed the anticipated timeline. If there was ever going to be a change from the original plan, George communicated that to me at every step. His organization with his subcontractors is most likely due to his long-running relationships with them. When he said they were coming to the house, they were there. A+ in terms of communication and an A+ on the finished product. Very happy with the completed Kitchen!
We used Boston Kitchen Designs to do work on a condo that we had just purchased. We were unsure of what we wanted but we knew that the kitchen and the upstairs bathroom were going to need work. Just before closing George did a walk through with us. He had us come back to the showroom a couple of days later and showed us what he had in mind. We ended up going with George’s recommendations and are extremely happy we did. He suggested investing our money in the kitchen, as opposed to trying to do everything with limited funds. George was able to come in on budget and complete the job in six weeks. We had all of the ceiling done (they were popcorn), the entire condo painted (other than the basement), new kitchen cabinets, lighting, countertops, backsplash, new bathroom vanity and cabinets. George was always available, as was his son Philip. They couldn’t have been easier to work with. I am so impressed with the people he hired, all of them were great, and their work was meticulous. Can’t recommend Boston Kitchen Designs highly enough! George and Philip are a fantastic team!
George was a pleasure to work with throughout the renovation of our kitchen. He was patient and attentive during the design process, combining his own expertise with our input to achieve a fantastic result. During construction, his contractors including his lead carpenter Christo did amazing work that was completed on time and within budget. My wife and I would highly recommend George and his team to anyone looking to complete a kitchen remodel project.
Most people post their comments about their experiences with a company or designer immediately when the project is done. I am not like that. I wait a good year to see if the workmanship holds up or any fine tuning is taking care of in a timely manner. Now I can sing George's praises for his design of our kitchen. We love it more than we could ever imagine. We ran into a major set back with our 1893 home. The back wall of our home had to come down and be rebuilt. This was a problem with our house and nothing to do with the work we commissioned. George managed his team and it was rebuilt in a day. We also moved our laundry to the second floor and we love that too. We highly recommend this company and when we can save up enough money I would love them to do a bathroom remodel.
Boston Kitchen was great! We renovated our kitchen in 2019 and George and his crew were fantastic and did a top quality job. In October 2023, when a couple of tiles came loose, George came back and took care of it for us. Truly a great operation with great customer service.
