Boston Pack and Ship built its name doing the jobs regular movers turn down — an antique china cabinet, a dorm-room dining set, a lounge chair that has to survive a cross-country truck ride. The company says it has served Eastern Massachusetts since 1988, formed in 1999 when two former national franchise locations — the number two and three top-selling shops in that network, one in Boston and one in Norwell — merged into the Braintree operation run today by Gene Sullivan. The one review from this year, an out-of-state dining-set shipment, describes Gene giving a fair, accurate price and delivering exactly as promised, with the movers on the receiving end commenting on how well the piece had been packed. That same packing-quality praise turns up elsewhere too: one directory describes items consistently arriving in perfect condition and on schedule. It isn't spotless. One review site recounts a shipment to the Netherlands where a box of expensive, hard-to-replace items got left behind in the warehouse and had to be tracked down after the fact. Another account, of a Boston-to-Tokyo move, says the goods arrived undamaged but took more than 70 days against a 30-day estimate, with the communication around that delay described as unclear. Neither complaint carries a date, so there's no telling whether it reflects how things run now or an older, isolated incident. The Better Business Bureau currently gives the company an A+ despite it not seeking accreditation, though a 2010 press item claimed the opposite — that the business had, in fact, earned BBB accreditation around that time. That's more a sign records shift over the years than a current red flag. A federal-carrier tracking profile shows a modest operation — one truck, two drivers — with a clean safety-inspection record and a small-carrier registration dating to 2013. This fits a specific kind of job: a single piece of furniture, a family heirloom, a dorm move, or an international shipment a standard local mover won't touch — not a whole-household relocation. Worth asking directly about current transit-time estimates on longer shipments, given the one account of a badly missed delivery window.

I needed a dining set shipped out of state, a process more challenging than I expected... until I called Gene. He was helpful, communicated well, gave me an accurate and fair price, and did exactly what he promised when I expected it to be done. The movers on the receiving end commented on how well it all had been packed! I don't leave many reviews, but maybe this will help someone else who is stressed out about shipping furniture make a good choice more easily.

Gene was so amazing and helped me organize an extremely last minute deal. His movers arrived on time and were extremely efficient. Would absolutely use again and cannot recommend enough.

I used Boston Pack and Ship to send an antique piece of furniture from Boston to Sedona, AZ. I can't say enough about their service and the quality of the packing. Item arrived on the day they said it would and was in pristine condition. Easy to work with and great customer service. Highly recommend.
