Brickstone is a family-owned Hingham stone and hardscape company that its website says was formed by Josh, Ben and Ashley Bascon, and its Houzz reviewers write about Ben on the stone and Ashley on the designs. Houzz shows 5.0 from 26 ratings and lists a Best of Boston 2021 award; Angi and HomeAdvisor each show 5.0 from 6. The hardest job in the reviews is from a February 2018 Houzz account. A century old, roughly four-foot retaining wall of irregular granite block ran nearly 80 feet along a circa 1900 Victorian's corner lot, some blocks over 400 pounds, and many masons the homeowners spoke to said it was too difficult. Ben Bascon took it apart with a small excavator and a two man team, working from a three foot wide sidewalk, sorted every stone, repaired the footings, added drainage, and rebuilt it so it looked like it had been that way for a hundred years. Design comes first on the patios. In an August 2018 review, Ashley sent a computer generated design after Ben's visit to the house, and the finished patio looked exactly like it. A February 2019 customer described Ashley's computer simulations before ground was broken, then a large multi-tiered patio, an outdoor kitchen and bar area, curved natural stone walls and a floor to ceiling reface of a brick fireplace, all on time and on budget. A September 2019 reviewer had hired the company on 4 separate occasions, for chimney work, retaining walls, granite steps and culvert work. In a 2018 Angi review, Ashley and Ben produced a landscape plan within days for a house going on the market, with Ashley working through the weekend. The January 2025 Angi reviews are short; a customer there wrote that they love the new look of their driveway.
The care and detail the team put into their work was beyond appreciated. Love the new look of my driveway.
If you are looking for quality work with amazing communication Brickstone Masonry is it! I could not be happier working with them. Very knowledgeable and their work is unmatched. They were able to answer all my questions and they were able to design exactly what I wanted that fit my needs. I’m so happy I was able to work with them and will definitely be using them again in the future!
They are such an amazing company. They were so responsive and were willing to answer any questions that I had. I would rehire them again!
Brickstone built a multi-level garden terrace and new front stairs for us. They were a joy to work with: responsive, cleaned up the site every day after working, and clearly took pride in their work. Worth every penny.
We could not have been happier with the work Ashley, Ben, and Josh did at our home. Their team designed and completed a patio with a fireplace at our home. This space has transformed how our family relaxes, entertains, and enjoys countless hours outdoors by the fire. The design, commitment to keep within a set price range and planning was exceptional. Furthermore, the time frame for completion was ahead of what we expected. This team was professional, extremely hardworking, courteous, and absolute pleasure to work with. Top notch!
