Buckley Heating & Cooling sells heating oil and propane and works on heating and air conditioning, and its website names Wakefield as its service area. A recent Google reviewer said Buckley quoted and installed a new AC unit in one day, which that customer appreciated because of the heat and a compromised respiratory system, and thanked Scott by name for responding quickly. The company says it has been in business 100 years. A pbn.com article names Matt Buckleu and Jeff Buckley as part of a long tradition of family ownership at Buckley Heating & Cooling, and an upriseri.com article reports that Star Group's current brand page lists Buckley Heating & Cooling among four service brands for Rhode Island, alongside Petro Home Services, Wood's Heating Service and Mutual HVAC. Its Rhode Island HVAC license, number 00008769, is active on the state registry, with Kelly L Clark as the holder of record. Its BBB grade is A+. A 2026 Google reviewer praised prompt service and called customer service friendly, helpful and professional. A recent Google reviewer gave two stars over a $99.95 charge for an "Annual Minimum Propane Requirement": that customer said a 100-gallon tank requires buying at least 75 gallons a year, that the rule was never explained, and that the two stars were aimed at management's policies, not the drivers or phone staff. On BBB, a reviewer called it a company to avoid, saying the technicians are good but describing questionable sales and billing practices, poor communication and fuel prices much higher than others in the area. A BBB reviewer writing after a 120-gallon fill-up said they would stay away from the company over its rate.

Just got off the phone with a very nice woman. I was on the phone to question the $99.95 charge for "Annual Minimum Propane Requirement". Unbeknownst to us, if you have a 100 gallon tank, you must buy at least 75 gallons of propane/year. Two years ago, we bought 73+ gallons, so that was close enough to avoid the almost $100 surcharge. This past winter we bought only 67.2 gallons ($447.48) so we are now paying an additional $99.95. The lesser amount of propane will cost more, because we didn't buy the minimum. Who knew? This was never explained to us. No doubt it's in the fine print somewhere, but I'm pretty angry. The drivers are fine, the people on the phone are fine. It's the policies that I resent. Hence 2 stars, directed at management.
Buckley HVAC is absolutely awesome. I and friends have used their services and are never disappointed. Scott has always responded quickly and their work is spot on. Buckley quoted and installed a new AC unit in one day which is so appreciated because of the heat and my compromised respiratory system. He has always been there when he is most needed. Thank you Scott and your fabulous crew.
Prompt service, customer service are always friendly and helpful & professional.
I'd stay away from this company, we just had 120 gallon fill up today at Buckley's rate of $5.349.
Awful company that you should avoid!Although the technicians are good, the business itself is a mess with questionable sales and billing practices, poor communication and fuel prices that are much higher than others in the area.
