Koolco Inc is a Wakefield heating and air-conditioning company with 3.6 stars from 28 Google ratings. A recent r/rhodeisland commenter recommended calling Cox Electric and Koolco and said they got a really good price from them. A recent Google customer wrote that parts had been "on order" for two weeks before they were told the parts could not be had, and that when they asked for a quote to replace the whole unit, as the company had recommended, no price was ready. That customer said calls to Koolco mean leaving a message and hoping for a return call. A 2025 customer said the company missed multiple scheduled appointments and left a 90 year old with an active leak for 3 weeks after accepting the job. A 2025 reviewer described an AC service call from about six years earlier: a young tech could not fix the problem, the man the reviewer called the owner came out and charged about $335, and when the same problem returned the next day, he said another call would be another $335. That 2025 reviewer also said they were told to "replace my outdoor AC unit and some other things in the house for 10K," and that the unit was still working six years later. A 2022 customer said the quoted parts cost hundreds less at Supply New England in Wakefield and that another company from northern RI did the job for half. A 2022 customer complained that the secretary was unpleasant and that the second worker who came for a furnace repair stood in the doorway without a greeting. In a 2023 review, a customer said technician David repaired their home A/C and was efficient, professional and informative. A 2022 reviewer said that when the AC stopped working in their office in summer heat, the company showed up within the hour, fixed the problem and also fixed an area that could have become a future problem. A 2016 Reddit commenter in Wakefield said they used Koolco and that it was always very quick to come when there was an issue with the burner.
“Call Cox Electric and Koolco. I got a really good price from them.”
“I use Koolco. Great service.”
“I use Koolco down here in Wakefield. Nice people and they are always very quick to come to the rescue if I have an issue with the burner.”
Everything takes forever. Had parts “on order” 2 weeks ago to be told they cannot get them weeks later. Asked for a quote to replace the whole unit, after they recommended to, but they had no price ready for me. Waited all day to not hear back. It’s getting cold out, this is needed urgently. Whenever you call the Koolco side, you always leave a message and hope for a return call. I’m glad I haven’t had an emergency, yet
Do not use this company due to poor customer service. They missed multiple scheduled appointments and had no remorse leaving a 90 year old with an active leak for 3 weeks after initially replying to and accepting the job. We basically received the runaround and were left stranded with an active leak.
About 6 years ago, I called Koolco (located in Wakefield, RI) for AC service. The very young tech they sent out didn't have a clue as to how to fix my problem, so he had to call in the owner to come to my house (or former owner as I think he said his ex-wife owns it now from the divorce) and he came in, supposedly fixed my unit and charged me like $335 for a service call. The very next day, I had the very same problem, so I called the same "owner" guy and he said that it would be another $335 for another service call and I said "I just paid you $335 yesterday for something you didn't fix". He had the nerve to tell me that I did not have a receipt showing what he did the previous day and that he would just say that the call was for "analysis of my system" which was a complete lie. Also, he told me to that I had to replace my outdoor AC unit and some other things in the house for 10K!! Meanwhile, 6 years later that unit is still working. Yeah, never again. BTW, I ended up calling Restivo's Heating & Air Conditioning for the repair, and they sent out a tech name "Mario" who was thorough and honest and charged a fair price (I think it was $189). No wonder they have 4.8 stars while Koolco currently has 3.9 stars. The moral of the story is: BELIEVE the "Stars" a company has on Google.
