Burgess Pest Management is a West Bridgewater-based pest control company serving a wide swath of Massachusetts, with a reputation built heavily around individual technicians — Noah, Ryan, Tyler, William, Bob Fox and others get called out by name across hundreds of reviews for being on time, thorough, and easy to reach. Recent reviews describe the same details repeatedly: same-day dispatches to check a suspected nest, technicians who adjust treatment after listening to a homeowner's concerns, and quarterly or monthly maintenance visits meant to keep mice, ants and ticks from coming back. In a 2023 review, a homeowner described Burgess persisting until they found an invisible draft letting mice into a basement, then sealing it for good; in another 2023 review, a technician tracked mouse activity over a two-week follow-up and confirmed no signs of feeding anywhere in the house. In a 2022 review, a technician turned down a job outright — pointing out five structural issues that needed fixing first and not charging for the visit. A recurring theme runs through the negative reviews across several years: customers in 2023, twice in 2025, and again in 2025 described difficulty canceling a service plan, unclear pricing, or being steered toward an ongoing subscription when they wanted a one-time visit. Separately, in a 2026 review, a home seller described a termite inspection report Burgess prepared for the buyer that used an outdated 2004 form and contained errors, which she said contributed to the sale falling through. And a 2025 review from a Cambridge tenant described a rodent infestation that went unresolved for six months despite repeated visits. Burgess is a large, established operation with a long list of reviewers praising specific technicians by name for showing up and solving the problem — but given the repeated billing and cancellation complaints, it's worth getting the terms of any service plan in writing before signing, and asking exactly what a one-time visit costs if that's all that's needed.
We are trying to sell our house and are in the inspection process. The buyers hired this company to do the pest inspection. The guy came to our house, told me there was no issue inside and then went out to inspect. That night my realtor said that the buyers of our house pulled out of the deal based on the termite report. I hired a company to come here and view the Burgess report. He was shocked to learn it's an outdated form from 2004. It was filled out incorrectly, mentioned mice which it wasn't supposed to and mentions viewing the attic. We don't even have an attic. The pest company I hired only found evidence of termite damage in ONE place under the bulkhead. Thanks to the Burgess employee, he cost us the sale of our house and now I have to spend $825 to have what little damage there is remediated and relist the house. I am absolutely furious. The BBB will be hearing from me and I may have to contact my lawyer to see if we have any claim. Absolutely unacceptable. They cost me the sale of my house and possibly the house we are planning to buy.
