Busby Construction Co., Inc. of Atkinson, New Hampshire, says it has been at it since 1977 — its site describes asphalt reclamation, utility installations and site work for clients primarily in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Much of what residents write about is town road work going on outside their front doors, and their accounts split sharply. Google shows 3.6 stars from 27 ratings, and its BBB grade is A+. The name that keeps coming up is Kyle. In a July 2026 review, a resident whose neighborhood roads were repaved thanked Kyle, the crew's supervisor, and wrote that even though the crew was working in a different neighborhood, they came immediately to finish placing gravel at the top of the driveway where it met the road. In a July 2024 review, a Salem resident described Busby showing up to widen and repave two side streets, faulted the town's Capital Projects Engineer for giving no advance notice, and credited Kyle, the field Superintendent, as approachable, personable and informative — "Kyle made a disruptive experience tolerable." The complaints are specific. In an August 2024 review, a resident on a street the town hired Busby to repair drainage and repave said their irrigation system was destroyed, their mailbox was reset at maybe half its previous height, the driveway grade during construction scraped their car, broken driveway areas were patched rather than cleanly cut, and bottles, Dunkin cups and asphalt were tossed onto the property; the writer added that seven weeks after the town said Busby would reset the mailbox, nothing had happened. A December 2025 reviewer wrote that workers were "standing around talking and doing nothing." Other reviews are short: "Great work, recommended" in May 2024 and "They get the job done" in June 2023. A local news item reports Busby as the lowest bidder on a project, per a memo.
“The lowest bidder was Busby Construction Co. of Atkinson, according to Amaral’s memo.”
We had a great experience with the crew of Busby Construction, and especially with Kyle, their supervisor. Recently the roads in our neighborhood were repaved, and look great. But we still needed gravel to be placed at the top of our driveway to meet the road. We SO appreciated that even though the crew was working in a different neighborhood, they were so responsive to our concerns that they came immediately to our property to finish the job. Thank you, Kyle and crew! We very much appreciate your work and your responsiveness!
WORKERS STANDING AROUND TALKING AND DOING NOTHING HIRE ANYONE BUT BUSBY CONSTRUCTION.
Love the American flags you are displaying on your trucks. Wish I snapped a picture. They look amazing driving down the road.
Update. It has been 7 weeks since the town told me Busby would reset my mailbox to within the USPS guidelines and still nothing. The Salem, NH capital projects engineer either lied to me or Busby broke my mailbox and is avoiding responsibility trying to hide it. My town hired them to repair drainage and repave my street and it has absolutely been a horrible experience as a resident. My irrigation system was destroyed, my mailbox got reset and maybe half the hieght it was previously set. My driveway grade during construction was left in a way that my car would scrap along the ground anytime I entered or exited. They just patched areas of my driveway that they broke instead of making a clean cut and having the new asphalt meet the driveway cleanly it's a patchy mess. This is all on top of trash like empty bottles and dunkins cups tossed into my property as well as excess patches of asphalt tossed I to my property. They also were careless operating equipment around cable/phone lines and took out lines going to a house on the street and left them ha gong over the weekend. All in all it's cheap lazy work and there is no care for the residents property they leave in disarray. This project is leaving me to pay out of pocket to clean up the mess they left behind. Can't imagine a worse company for a municipality to hire.
I live in Salem, NH. A couple of weeks ago (now 7/22/24) Busby Construction showed up in the neighborhood to widen end repave 2 side streets. Suddenly equipment appeared without notification from the town. The Salem Capital Projects Engineer is seriously deficient in public outreach to give advance notice to residents of "what's going on". He accused me of "not doing my due diligence". Really?! Retired now, during my career, I worked on several Capital projects. That experience educated me on the great importance of public outreach, specifically notifying residents of activity that will impact their lives. Specially, numerous pieces of heavy equipment moving around. the cacophony of sound created by incessant back up alarms, loud dump trucks, etc. is very disruptive. Fortunately Kyle, the Busby field Superintendent was very approachable, personable and informative about what was going on and what we residents could expect. His willingness to interact with residents was very much appreciated. Having experience working on Capital projects, I quickly recognized his skills. I admire Kyle. He entered the company as a worker 11 years ago and worked his way up to Superintendent. I enjoyed watching him supervise the work and the way he kept it progressing. People make a company. Perception is based on experience. Kyle made a disruptive experience tolerable. Thank you Kyle.
