The company says it serves Pittsfield and Great Barrington and has been in business for 75 years. A local news site, berkshireeagle.com, has described Bushey's Pool City operating a showroom where the mills' executive offices once stood. On Google it holds 3.8 stars from 17 ratings. A recent customer said they were quoted $350 to open a pool, with extra costs if chemicals or parts were needed, and then received a receipt for $999 without being told of the extra $650 before the card was charged. That customer said Gary connected the pump, changed a gasket and put in a new filter basket and chemicals, and that afterward the water still wasn't clear and the vacuum wasn't working. A recent customer who bought a pool through Bushey's said the leveling turned out to be 12 inches rather than six, adding about $500, and that a request to return the pool for a refund was refused because it had been more than seven days. A 2022 Google reviewer wrote that they know what they are doing. A 2022 Google reviewer said the business owner was very disrespectful, with little patience for a normal conversation.
“Now, Bushey's Pool City operates a showroom where the mills' executive offices once stood”
“Firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to a warehouse for Bushey’s Pool City, which contained a large number of chemicals and other flammable substances.”
I have never had such a bad experience. I recently bought a pool through Bushey’s. He told me he had an installer who would be able to install the pool for me. When he came out to drop off the pool, he said it shouldn’t be a big deal to get the pool in only to find out that he told the installer that it would be 12 inches of leveling and not six and therefore a will cost me about $500 more Then what I anticipated paying. Then on top of that, the installer tells me that I have to pay him $300 more because he would have to take it and claim it for taxes. So obviously the installer is not claiming all of his money that he makes for installing pools. I called the pool company back and asked if I can get a refund and bring the pool back to him and I was told no because it’s been more than seven days. It literally has been eight days since I bought the pool and less than a week since the pool was dropped off it’s an outdoor pool so the liner was put in my shed so it stays dry and the rest of the stuff he told me would be perfectly fine to leave outside. But now he won’t even take it back, and I don’t have an installer for the pool because the installer told me that he has never had anyone complain about these extra charges and that I should find someone else to do it.
Really disappointed in Bushy Pools. I was quoted $350 to open my pool and told there would be extra costs if chemicals were needed or any other parts, reasonable. Gary came and “opened” my pool (connected the pump), changed a gasket, new basket for the filter and chemicals, and to much of my surprise I received a recite for $999. I was not notified of the extra $650 charges before my card was charged (the make you out a card on file before they schedule you). This is the color of my pool after he “opened” it and put the chemicals in. When I called the office to ask why I wasn’t notified of the extra charges before I was charged and that the water still isn’t clear and the vacuum isn’t working, I essentially got an “oh well” and that she just processes what Gary tells her. Terrible way to treat customers and to do business. This is the first and last time I will use this company.
Excellent service. They know what they are doing.
Business owner was very disrespectful with litle to no patience to have a normal conversation.
