Cape Cod Independent Power is a Mashpee-based company that sells, installs and services standby home and small-commercial generators, primarily Kohler models today, across Cape Cod and Southeastern Massachusetts. The company was started in 2005 by Lester Wade and has been owned by Nick Betti since 2017. Recent reviews describe a consistent installation process: a gas crew and an electrical crew working together to complete a whole-house generator in a single day, sometimes ahead of the original schedule. Customers name specific staff, including Nick Betti, Julie, Tony and Amy, across years of reviews for staying in touch and following up after the job. One customer with an 8-year-old Kohler generator on a long-running service contract described a technician, Mike, getting a storm-affected unit running again quickly. Another described the crew finishing a generator install in one day despite high winds, prioritizing a household running medical equipment on limited battery backup. Not every account is positive. A 2025 review says the company let a signed preventive-maintenance contract for a Generac generator sit for four months before telling the customer it now services Kohler units only. Two older reviews, from 2013 and 2014, describe an unfinished annual-maintenance visit and a disputed warranty-repair charge, both predating the current ownership. Google shows 5.0 stars from 112 ratings; Angi shows 3.7 from 12, weighed down mostly by those older complaints. BBB lists the company A+ (not accredited) but describes it, in what reads like outdated category text, as a 'Guardian' generator dealer, while every other recent source, including the company's own site, is Kohler-specific. One record item needs a caveat: an expired Massachusetts electrician license tied to this record traces to a name, George T. Wiggin, with no apparent connection to Cape Cod Independent Power's known ownership or staff, so it should not be read as this business's own credential. Confirm any licensing directly with the state before hiring. This looks like a fit for a Cape Cod homeowner or small business wanting a full-service standby generator install with responsive follow-up, especially anyone already set on a Kohler unit. Anyone still running an older Generac system should confirm directly that ongoing maintenance is still supported before signing a service contract.
It was great to work with the team from Cape Cod Independent Power. From the original estimate, to the install and inspections, the process was smooth, communication was transparent and overall experience was great. We’re happy to have peace of mind with our new generator and feel ready for the unexpected!!
Cape Cod Independent Power was an excellent company to deal with. Very efficient, neat, knowledgeable staff very familiar with all aspects of the installation and generator. On time, and very thorough.
Cape Cod Independent Power did an outstanding job installing our 26 KW whole house generator. They had a gas team and an electrical team working closely together to install the system in one day. They were courteous and spent time explaining the process as well as leaving the job neat and clean. The start up technician came the following week and tested everything and explained the functionality of the system and the Kohler app. I would highly recommend this company for a standby generator installation.
After losing power due to the blizzard on February 23rd 2026 we decided that we need to have a backup power generator. We contacted CCIP and Amy setup an initial survey. Lester came and surveyed the site for possible engine generator placement. He explained the process for installing the generator, transfer switch, and propane connection. The installation crew did a great job and were professional and respectful of our property. Tony came out for the commissioning / initial startup and explained our responsibilities during an outage. Kudos to Amy. She is great to communicate with and she is clearly the person that keeps the process flowing smoothly. Our 20KW generator is operational and the Kohler App works great and shows us the current status including engine run time, maintenance, activity log, etc. We’re really happy that we chose CCIP for installing our Kohler backup power generator. I would definitely recommend them to anyone considering a backup generator installation.
Very personable and informative.
