When a blizzard left one customer's generator refusing to start in February 2026, the office talked them through starting it over the phone. That is the business Chamberlin Electric is really in: Generac standby generators — sold, installed, and still looked after the winter after next. The Hudson, New Hampshire company has been a Generac Certified Elite Dealer since 2009 and says it has served the area since 1989. Its New Hampshire electrician's licence, number 8220, is active, held by Richard Q Chamberlin, Jr. The Better Business Bureau lists the company as accredited with an A+ grade. The jobs that go well go well in detail. A September 2025 customer named the whole crew that spent most of the day at the house — Jimmy, Drew, Dante, Tyler, Nick and Rick — and said they stopped to explain how the install would go. In August 2025, Shawn McCormick took a first-time generator owner through every panel on the unit and what to expect when the power drops. A November 2025 buyer who had just moved from Pennsylvania and knew no electricians was given three names by Generac, and said Cole carried them from the first consultation into scheduling. In February 2026 another credited Andrea in the office with keeping them posted while a generator and a new electrical panel went in, and in December 2025 a malfunctioning safety sensor was replaced at no cost. They also stay with the equipment. A November 2025 reviewer said their auto-switchover Generac had been serviced by the company for three years; a February 2026 one had an old Briggs and Stratton maintained for years before replacing it; an Angi reviewer in May 2026 singled out Nick for the annual standby tune-up. The other half of this page is the office. A June 2026 reviewer gave two stars over what they called complications and frustrations with the people in the office. Three reviewers — in November 2022, October 2025 and December 2025 — say a promised estimate never came: two of them had a technician out to price the job first, and the third supplied all the electrical detail to a technical rep expecting pricing the next day. Dates slip too. A 2022 reviewer signed a contract and paid half down in early November, and was told the installation would be April at the latest. Another that spring was told, at the time of an appointment booked two weeks earlier, that nobody was coming. A December 2021 customer waited more than six months and through many cancellations for a technician to service a generator. And in June 2026 a three-star reviewer wrote that the contract signed on 13 November had called for installation before the end of December — the generator is in and running now. For a Generac — a new standby unit, a repair, the yearly tune-up — this is a shop whose technicians know the equipment and get named for it. Get the quote in writing with a date on it, pin down the installation window before any money goes down, and expect to chase the office if it goes quiet.
Home depot referred Chamberlin Electric as a contractor who could install one of their Generac standby generators. Chamberlin sent the Bill Donoghue, who arrived early, at 2:15 p.m, on 6/30/26. He stated that they could not install the generator at the North end of my house, because they could not tap into the basement propane pipe that extends the 54 feet from the South end of my house, where the propane meter is, to the North end of the house, where the 200 amp Transfer Switch would be located next to the circuit breaker box. He asserted that they would have to install it at the South end of the house and tap into the main line pipe coming off the propane meter. Then they would have to fish wire through the sheetrock-covered ceiling of the finished room at the South end of the basement and run it the rest of the way through the unfinished basement to the Transfer Switch. On 7/10/25 I received the email quote from Traci in their Sales & Marketing Department. My research for this project indicates that it is a competitive quote, so for now I'm giving them 3 stars since it took 10 days to get the quote. I plan on choosing a contractor on 9/3/26, and if Chamberlin is chosen and does an outstanding job, I'll update my rating to 5 stars.
Chamberlain Electric helped us install a generator in our home through Home Depot due to health reasons. The installation was done professionally, effectively, with clear and helpful communication, at a reasonable price, and without any problems. We already had to use our generator once during a several hour-long outage, and we're extremely thankful for it. Big shout out to Drew and Jeremy who helped us with the installation specifically.
I’m happy to have my backup generator installed and running however from the very beginning in October of 2025 it seemed odd from the very beginning. The contract was signed off on November 13 and was supposed to be installed before the end of December. Due to weather conditions and the fact that the company doesn’t seem to have 4wheel drive vehicles numerous cancellations and postponements as well as employees calling in sick I kept my cool through it all. Andrea was the best. She couldn’t believe l never got upset or angry at every obstacle that seemed to come up. The clean up was atrocious. I cleaned up myself. And the project was finished with the final inspection on May 15, 2026. Seventeen months later. I can’t say that I could recommend this company although the work once completed was all done properly but the time it took to complete was totally unacceptable.
Before we got our generator and electrical work done, I read many good reviews about the business. Unfortunately, we were very upset with the way the office and the business was run. There were so many complications and frustrations working with the people in the office. When I spoke to the owner about it, he was shocked that those things were happening. He clearly did not know how his business was run. They were cancellations and re-bookings. We had to wait a little over three months to get our generator installed. And then more complications. The salesman of the company was not truthful about everything. The only positive of the situation was that the electricians were extremely proficient and did a great job. I would highly not recommend them. I hope the owner has figured out all the flaws so that no one else will be as frustrated as we were from this experience.
I will be sending a handwritten letter to the CEO/PRESIDENT of Chamberlin Electric to underscore our highest Gratitude, in particular for one Nick, who does our annual standby generator tune-up. We have been blessed with Gold Standard service, most recently from Nick who noted the remains of a deceased FOX under our back deck. Nick was compassionate, concerned and put us on a path to have the remains of the Fox handled with Dignity.
